5.8 magnitude earthquake felt in VI- DDM

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Department for Disaster Management (DDM) is reporting that a 5.8 magnitude earthquake was felt in the Virgin Islands (VI) this morning, Friday, January 20, 2023.

DDM said preliminary reports placed the earthquake 58.14km South-southeast of Montserrat at a depth of 165km.

The earthquake was felt around 7:23 am.

Meanwhile, the US Geological Survey measured the earthquake as a 6.2 and gave the location as 40 km WSW of Pointe-Noire, Guadeloupe and at a depth of 166.4km.

No warning, advisory, or watch has been issued for the Virgin Islands.

    In Antigua too. I heard it rolling coming then start to shake. It shake long too

    I don't understand because I have not felt it and I have not heard anyone close to me say they felt it. Strange, because that is a high magnitude.

    I felt it , when I heard a sound I thought it was was thunder so if stopped moving and put my hand against bthe building and felt a little tremor , but it was very short I had just sat down so maybe I felt it at the last moment , because I was moving around , but I did feel it
