TRELLIS BAY, Beef Island, VI- The National Unity Government of Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) has been boasting of increased tourism arrivals; however, the question continues to be asked how much is being done to ensure the tourists have a welcoming experience.

There have been complaints of slow immigration processing at the ports and sometimes both tourists and residents are left in the sun or rain waiting to be processed.

Another issue that has come to light is the absence of a proper waiting area at the Trellis Bay, Beef Island dock, where many tourists seek to board a ferry to Virgin Gorda, after hopping off a plane.

Many tourists and residents have been made to sit or stand in the sun or rain while waiting for a ferry at Trellis Bay. Some seek the trees for shade.

The wooden structure, which stood as the waiting area, was destroyed by the hurricanes of 2017 and never restored.

From time to time the BVI Tourist Board erects a collapsable tent, but there remains a need for a stronger, more accommodating, and welcoming waiting area at Trellis Bay.

There are also no PUBLIC bathrooms at Josiah's Bay since the hurricane. I was there the other day and there were approximately 100 people going into the bushes to relieve their bowels. This is just out and out disgusting and unhealthy. When I asked how come there aren't any bathrooms, I was told they have been asking for years with nothing being done. Unacceptable! This beach is one of the busiest, especially when having surfing competitions where there are so many people. Will the politician who covers this area please get up and do something about it? REALLY? SMDH.

Thanks for bringing this to light! It is extremely inconvenient to have to go all the way by Trellis Bay Market to sit down and wait and feels so awkward when you aren't buying anything.

I don't know who brought this injustice to light, but who did has told the truth. The above complained has truly exposed one of many needed area of political neglected by the NDP, VIP, and the current put-together, and temparary Unity government lead by the boastful Hon. Premier, Natalio Sajuande Wheatley. What a shame

Very good observation, that area is like a hub to some of our best properties and tourism areas, not to mention its use by RESIDENTS. I have said it before and will say it again. Our tourism sector is a twelve cylinder machine firing on 6. There is so much potential. When will we see a Ministry of Tourism with a Minister of tourism. We also need to stop sending mice to do RAT work. Shalom

This is not a good look and it shows a lack of not giving a damn. It is not right that people have no proper boarding area to wait for the ferry to Virgin Gorda and I am talking about locals and tourist that have to get to Virgin Gorda. And pleaseeeee don’t put a band aid and put up a tent, looks tacky. If I hear the word Hurricane from 2017, I am going to scream. Other Caribbean Islands that were affected by the same hurricane has moved forward and gotten their S..t together. Everything here is the Hurricane song.NONE OF YOU IN GOVERNMENT IS FIT TO RUN THE COUNTRY, NONNNNNNNN. EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU INEPT AND OBLIVIOUS TO RUN THE COUNTRY. PUN INTENDED, NO WONDER THEY CALL YOU GUYS BUSHMEN.

The concrete foundation is already there they only have to put up the side walls and a roof. First one didn't had doors so they can do same thing here. I'm not sure what they do about restrooms though. They'll have to hire someone to clean that everyday also the area needs more lights

The tourism product seems to be the reverse. Set of mouth champions no action behind it. It's talking season not action season. Look how long the bushes was pulling us out of our vehicles. Look how long the pot holes damaging our machinery, look how long the water is running on our streets, look how long the town stench and water overflowing our roads. How much longer would we put up with mouth champions with no real action. Hon mark Vanterpool was and still will be the action man he has a proven track record. He is not perfect but you see his work. While some are in need of repair but he tried.
