4x100M Boys U17 National Record broken twice @ Carifta Games

NASSAU, Bahamas- They missed out on a podium finish but the [British] Virgin Islands 4x100M Boys U17 relay team of Mario Carter, Tiondre Frett, Othneil Gillings, J'Den Jackson is coming home from the 50th Carifta Games in The Bahamas with a National Record.

Carter, Frett, Gillings and Jackson actually broke the record in qualifying for the relay finals, with their time of 43.06 on Sunday, April 9, 2023.

That record would only stand for a couple of hours; however, as they returned to the track for the finals and blazed to a time of 42.59, placing 5th.

    It is good that we are seeing local records broken and personal bests time for the athletes. Kudos to them. Maybe next year we need to focus more on quality than quantity. There were some athletes that clearly should not have been there.

    We need to know the reason Penn and McMaster ladies both pulled out / stopped in the middle of the race they were running. The McMaster girl seemed to have had a good start. Question why they both stopped at the same mark. Where they told by the coaches to stop when they reached there instead of finishing the race win loose r draw.

    well done boys! i have taught all of them at the mighty scatliffe. It should be mentioned that Gillings and Frett are not yet under 17. They are 14 year olds that did the damn thing! Can't wait to see them next year, especially Frett. Congrats again fellow striders!
