ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – At around 3:05 AM, this morning February 6, 2021, the Puerto Rico Seismic Network recorded an earthquake measuring a magnitude of 4.99 MD with estimated Maximum Intensity of IV (4).

According to the Department of Disaster Management, the epicentre was located at latitude 19.15 North, 65.81 West at 69.51 Km Northwest of Anegada, BVI at a depth of 78 km.

“During an earthquake it is important to stay calm, if you are inside stay there, move away from ceiling fans, glass windows and doors or anything that may fall. Get under a desk or sturdy piece of furniture, cover your head and hold on. If outdoors, move into an open area away from trees, buildings, or utility wires and poles,” the DDM warned.
