4 new HIV cases recorded in VI for 2026
This was revealed by Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronald E. Georges, in a statement on HIV, Sexual Health and Personal Responsibility dated August 20, 2026.
Interconnected sexual network; no outbreak
According to Dr Georges, public-health investigations have identified interconnected sexual networks and behaviours that create opportunities for HIV and other Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) to spread.
“These cases are not presently considered an outbreak, but the findings reinforce the need for increased awareness, testing, prevention and personal responsibility.”
The CMO reminded that a person may have one sexual partner but still be connected, through that partner, to several others.
“When partnerships overlap, and condoms are not used consistently, an infection can move through a network without anyone knowing how they are connected. Your risk depends not only on your partners, but also on their partners.”
Know your status & use protection
Dr Georges added that knowing your status brings a responsibility to others, as a person who knows, or has good reason to believe, that they carry HIV or another STI, and who then has sex without disclosing that risk, without using protection, or without following treatment advice, places their partner’s health in danger.
He reminded that deliberately or recklessly exposing another person to infection is a serious breach of trust and, depending on the circumstances, also carries legal consequences.
Therefore, sexually active persons should get tested if they have unprotected sex, even in a committed partnership; have a new or casual partner; have multiple or overlapping partners; engage in transactional sex; or otherwise believe they may have been exposed.
Confidential counselling and rapid HIV testing are available through: Public Health Unit: 468-2282. And BVI Red Cross: 494-6349.
Remain in care & protect others if HIV+
Dr Georges also cautioned that if anyone is contacted by the Public Health Unit, it does not automatically mean they are HIV positive or that they have done something wrong.
“It means you may have been exposed and should be tested. Partner notification is confidential, and Public Health does not disclose who identified you as a contact.”
He also urged persons to remain in care and protect others if diagnosed with HIV.
“HIV and many other STIs are manageable, but this depends on staying in care, complying with treatment, following clinical advice, notifying partners through the confidential processes available, and using barrier methods when sexually active.”

A rich man like that "cured" and you think a regular person from BVI is safe to get it cuz it got "cured"
Since the cure out there go around and catch all of them like a pokemon master them find the "cure" you talking about
Young people just ignorant and reckless. Them don't think until after the consequences and even after they don't learn...
Stop promote and indulge this current culture of women and minors dressing half naked. Stop grinding on each other at festival like animals. Stop this nonsense of women and minors prefer bad man and gun man and party man . Stop the excessive drinking like y'all got two liver. Stop breeding for dudes when you don't got a ring then 5 years after the baby shower you a single mother. Evolution is learning from each other mistakes but y'all not learning and messing up the command gene pool
Y'all just keep shooting yall self in the foot and wondering where the shots coming from
Real idiots
Good thing police or organizers didn't shut down the partying after all the fights and gun shots. We really needed a break right guys?
Anyways let's try go on social media and complain about school prices after being reckless and irresponsible during festival
Party time babyyyy can't wait till lobster fest and news years. More hiv , more fights , more guns, more ski mask and more partying!!
Is there a law in the BVI where you can report someone who's been spreading STD's for years knowingly they're sick?
yall love party
yall love dressing half naked
yall love grinding on each other
well this is the outcome higher chances of sti/hiv
yall really think someone who part takes in these vulgar activities would be clean person to lay down with?
someone who flashes there body to the public?
some guy who grinds on multiple women like a dog?
you think someone as reckless as them would disclosed their status?
yall think people who attend these events would be loyal partners?
yall think these people who go them events would be responsible people/parents? jokes write themselves boi...who dont hear will feel.
yall better hope we dont get a next pandemic cuz yall will be on the clock
i could never understand how people could be so reckless mehson
i cant feel sorry for yall. yes you cant tell who got what but you can see judge a person character to narrow down a conclusion . you can ask someone to do a test first before any action but i guess all the rum and partying mess up yall logical thinking
parents i am beggin yall watch yall young daughters especially those in schools. grown men who know they have someting are targetting that group specifically! the younger females are too caught up into the current culture and lack self respect and standards...the criminals love it! its like a feast for them. while young adults defend the current culture of partying, smoking, drinking, dressing half naked, violence etc
you have women and young girls boasting songs about "she luv gun man/ bad man"
well she better love life long prescriptions , heart break, disloyalty , abuse and single motherhood
plenty people complained that people were smelling funky at the parade and jouvert.... guess wa?? high chance a set of persons in there had gonorrhea. but that wa gonorrhea love! slackness ,vulgarness, promiscuous , dressing like a sex object, grinding like animals in public, drinking them self into the "mood"
well fraser said yall had money to party but now yall on fb crying about school books, some gonna be crying about pregancy kit, some gonna be crying about expensive sti/hiv medz that nhi wont cover
good luck my "broke" self was fine and safe home enjoying time off! haha
Some of yall men out here buggaring need to step to the front of the pew for correction and blessings.
Yall in turn go around sleeping by with women unprotected and it’s a disgusting behavior. They work in high government positions and also consultants.
School girls are involved in sex network where they prostitute to older men.
The older men appears to be the ones wearing big gold chains, smokers, thug life kinda individuals and other men in certain business that require decent attire like shirt and tie or polo .
If this is true I am disappointed but it is expected with the current culture going on around here and when old heads speak out about it young adults defends it .... probably because they benefits or also partake in this culture
This is the 2nd time prostitution has hit the news or social media. So I think something is definitely going on. Remember the last leak of Snapchat prostitute allegations with certain women who partakes in bar tending and night life/party life activities?
SMH but nothing wrong with a lil nude during parade and festival right? Look what's happening when y'all present yourself as sex objects even the minors influenced from what y'all promote and defend.

I believe the BVI has lost a significant amount of the traditional morals and family-centered values that once emphasized love, responsibility, respect, goodness, discipline, order, and stable homes. Strong families create strong communities, and strong communities create a stronger society. When those foundations begin to weaken and traditional boundaries or “guardrails” are removed, we should not be surprised when disorder, chaos, and increasingly destructive behavior become more common.
Look around the BVI today and you can see many examples of this cultural shift. We see young people being exposed to increasingly vulgar and sexualized behavior, minors dressing and behaving in ways that were once considered inappropriate, young boys imitating gang culture, throwing up gang signs, glorifying guns, and adopting the image and mentality of criminals.
We also cannot ignore the number of young people who openly glorify the “bad man” or “gun man” lifestyle. There are women who openly say they love “bad men” or “gun men,” while others normalize relationships and lifestyles centered around violence, partying, drugs, promiscuity, and criminality. These choices have consequences. A person cannot continually choose unstable and destructive environments and then be shocked when instability eventually becomes part of their life.
This is also where the issue of family structure comes into the discussion. I am **not** saying that every single-parent household produces a troubled child. Many single parents do an excellent job raising responsible, successful, and respectable children. However, research has consistently shown that children growing up in certain forms of family instability—particularly when combined with poverty, poor supervision, parental conflict, absent fathers, or other disadvantages—can face higher risks of behavioral, educational, and social problems.
When unstable relationships produce children who grow up without consistent parental guidance or a meaningful father or mother figure, the consequences can sometimes extend beyond the household and into the wider community. A child who grows up without proper supervision, discipline, positive role models, and a stable environment can become more vulnerable to negative influences such as gangs, drugs, violence, sexual exploitation, and dropping out of school.
What concerns me even more is the possibility of an intergenerational cycle. A parent may make poor relationship and lifestyle choices, raise children in an unstable environment, and those children may eventually repeat the same patterns because that is what they grew up seeing as normal. The cycle then continues from one generation to the next.
This is why I believe the conversations surrounding BVI festivals, gun crime, youth violence, sexual behavior, HIV/STIs, gangs, and the general decline in public standards cannot always be treated as completely separate issues. They can be symptoms of deeper social problems involving family instability, poor parenting, irresponsible choices, lack of discipline, and the normalization of destructive lifestyles.
We cannot continue to normalize everything in the name of being “modern” and then act surprised when the consequences eventually appear. Freedom without responsibility, tolerance without boundaries, and individual choice without accountability can create serious problems for a community.
If we genuinely want to reduce gun crime, gang involvement, youth delinquency, sexual exploitation, school dropouts, drug abuse, and other social problems, we need to start much earlier. We need stronger families, more responsible parenting, better supervision of children, positive male and female role models, respect for education, discipline, personal responsibility, and a culture that does not glorify criminals or destructive lifestyles.
The remaining people in the BVI who still believe in strong families, personal responsibility, respect, decency, discipline, and community order need to be willing to speak up. We should not be afraid to challenge cultural norms simply because they have become popular.
A society's future ultimately depends on the people it raises. If we want a safer, healthier, more prosperous BVI, then we have to start by rebuilding the foundation: **strong families, responsible parents, disciplined children, positive role models, and a culture that rewards good choices rather than glorifying destructive ones.**
Strong families create strong communities. Strong communities create strong societies. If we allow the foundation to continue deteriorating, we should not be surprised when the problems above the foundation continue to grow.
