ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Competitive basketball will soon resume in the Territory, albeit not in the usual format, as the BVI Basketball Federation (BVIBF) is seeking to run off a 3x3 tournaments for district teams in December the latest.

President of The BVI Basketball Federation, Mr Derrick R. Varlack, announced via press release today, November 6, 2020, that the Federation is seeking interested persons to register for the 3x3 district tournaments in an effort to familiarise themselves with the different format.

3x3 basketball ‘a new option’ for players- BVIBF

Speaking with media houses, Mr Varlack noted, “The Federation has been reviewing viable solutions to rejuvenate and sustain basketball throughout the Territory. We believe that 3x3 basketball is a new option for basketball in the territory, which provides opportunities for basketball players regionally and internationally.

“As we prepare to enter the 2021 basketball calendar year, we anticipate facilitating several 3x3 tournaments in addition to the traditional 5 on 5 basketball leagues across the BVI. We will continue providing support in efforts to foster the development of basketball while promoting an active lifestyle in our community,” Mr Varlack stated.
