ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- A total of 36 problems have been solved to date through the “BVI GOV Report It” App since its launch in April 2023.

The BVI GOV Report It App allows members of the public to take photos, and file live, trackable reports of Public Service non-emergencies such as potholes, broken pipes and signage, stray animals, derelict vehicles, and other related issues.

“As we transform the Public Service, initiatives such as the BVI GOV Report It App allow us to deliver services, whilst placing the needs of our clients first.” Deputy Governor Mr David D. Archer, Jr said in a Government Information Services (GIS) press release on May 26, 2023.

92 reports made; 56 solutions in progress

Customer Service Manager, Ms Abbarah Brown, was pleased to report that since the App’s launch in April, a total of 92 reports were made. Of those 92 reports, 36 problems have been solved to date, while 56 solutions are in progress.

Ms Brown explained that of the 36 problems solved, 25 of them were handled by the Water and Sewerage Department.

“I would really like to commend the Water and Sewerage Department for working swiftly to address the reports filed by the public. Closing 25 claims in such a brief period was not easy, but they were able to rise to the occasion,” the Customer Service Manager stated.

She further noted that the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, the Department of Waste Management, the Customer Service Care Centre, the Public Works Department and the Department of Information Technology also resolved a number of issues respectively.

Positive feedback

Ms Brown said that the remaining issues are projected to be resolved in a timely manner and noted that the numbers change each day.

“We are so grateful for the positive feedback we have received surrounding the new app and the members of the public who continue to take advantage of the platform. We urge you to use the tracking feature on the app for all of your reports made, to stay abreast of any updates or resolutions.”

The Customer Service Care Centre seeks to enhance the customer service relationship between the Government and its clients, by utilising Customer Service Specialists that serve as the single point-of-contact for the public to communicate with the Government.

Did you all clean up the crooked government running this country? Did you all build back the school and after school program? This app is pure bulls**.

So we celebrating a department (s) for doing what are their mission, duty, etc to do? So what are going to do when they do what they are supposed to ? It should not be a heavy lift to do what you are commissioned to do. So should also celebrate the UK for helping the VI move towards a full measure of self-government? Is not that what it is task to do but has not done because it does not want, for it wants to remain in control? Public works, Water, sewage, etc are exceeding expectations, etc. Thst is not a heavy lift. So water and sewage doing something’s finally. What the hell the happen. We does set our standards too loo low and it thst is challenge. People need to do their damn job and the little they should not be news. You feel me?

What an awesome idea in connecting the people with their government. But from the first two responses it is clear that some people are born to complain and tear down while at the same time contributing absolutely nothing.
I hope this initiative will survive and we all can become more appreciative.
