ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Three friends, who have held together since students at Elmore Stoutt High School, have pooled their energy, talents, and resources to make a huge difference in the Virgin Islands community.

The trio, known as The JAM, held a Summer Fun Day and free Back-to-School Giveaways at Queen Elizabeth II Park on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

The event was designed for the entire family and included Lime & Spoon and Sack Races for cash prizes, as well as bouncy castles.

School supplies distributed included free books and bags.

Sponsors included People’s Leadership Movement (PLM), Rising Star, and We Clean Boats Services.

The JAM

According to the organisers, what started as a friendship in 11th Grade has grown into a strong bond and creative team known as The JAM — made up of Jkwani, Ajani, and Mordecai.

“Since meeting in high school, the three friends have remained side by side, constantly supporting each other and building new ideas together. Their motto is simple: move as a group, grow as a group, and never leave anyone behind. While each member has their own individual goals and businesses, The JAM continues to bring their talents together.”

Jkwani is a clothing brand owner behind Pluto, building his own name through fashion and creativity. Ajani is the owner of the clothing brand Rising Star and is also beginning to pursue barbering and cutting hair. Mordecai has taken a different path, owning a boat cleaning service while working on other ventures.

“Although they each have their own lane, The JAM remains connected by their friendship and shared ambition. Whether they’re creating ideas together or working on their individual businesses, the three continue to encourage one another and push toward bigger goals.

“From 11th grade to entrepreneurship, The JAM represents what can happen when friendship, creativity, and determination come together,” the organisers stated.

This is so awesome. 3 big chains man who have and doing something legitimately and being part of their community. These are the time of people you guys should be embracing not the West Bank gritty minded people you guys always supporting. Imagine will all the so-called money Nyron had not once he or West Bank put on a back to school initiative or the likes of him. I bet what those guys did won’t trend on social media. Wishing them the best and next year I’m going to support them. Waiting for the 4 other clothing brands to do something positive using their brands but probably won’t as they market is from the gritty people so they won’t want to risk losing that business. But God.

In business, there is CSR ( Cooperate Social Responsibility), ie, giving back to the Community. Similarly, JAM is doing ASM (Alumni Social Responsibility), giving back. Their action is exemplary and very worthy of emulation. It represents,,reinforces, and give credence to the African-African proverb, “Each one teach one.” Jkwani, Ajani, and Mordecai, well done!

E.Leonard,, well written. One correction though. I think you probably meant African-American, not African-African.

As it is related to slavery, perhaps in the context of things, perhaps this is why he doubled down on "African". Just maybe.
