29 customs officers & staff recognised in observance of Customs Week 2026

BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI- Twenty-nine (29) officers within His Majesty's Customs Department were recognised during a luncheon to celebrate the opening of Customs Week 2026, which took place on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

The Premier of the Virgin Islands, Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7), attended the event and congratulated Acting Comptroller of Customs Clinton G. Romney, his leadership team, and all officers and staff who received awards.

Junior Officer Basic Training 

Thirteen (13) junior officers were awarded in the basic training category, with Officer Nicola Noel being recognised as the Top Performer. The other awardees included Officer Jason Dunkley, Officer Dillard Freeman, Officer Dominique Penn, Officer Samory M. Romney, Officer Tiffany Herbert-Fahie, Officer Eliana George, Officer Limiel Hodge, Officer Sherica Thomas, Officer Kenmore Carter, Officer Marshal Thomas, Officer Shavique Barzey, and Officer Roxanne Caesar.

2025 Award for Outstanding Work

Officers from various districts and units were also acknowledged for their contributions. Officer Tiffany Herbert-Fahie received the award for Road Town, Officer Bennett Fraser for Port Purcell, Officer Brie Andrews for Virgin Gorda, Officer Marshal Thomas for West End, Officer Dominique Penn for Beef Island, and Officer B’Jorn Caleb for the K9 Unit. Officer Jameel Herman received recognition for C.A.P.S., while Officer Jemane Mathavious was awarded for the Mobile Task Force. Officer Ralph Fonseca was honoured for the Internal Audit Team, Officer Trevor Potter for the Flex Team, Officer Nadia Collins for Petroleum and Concession, and Ms Yshuana Callwood for the Administrative Unit.

Other Awards 

The Team Leader of the Year Award went to Officer Melanie Massicot, while Officer Glen Hodge received the Senior of the Year Award. The Assistant Commissioner of the Year for Enforcement was awarded to Officer Kambi Brathwaite, and Debra James was recognised as Assistant Commissioner of the Year for Operations.

The luncheon followed a church service at the Church of God (Holiness) in Baughers Bay. According to a Facebook post by the Premier, there was a strong sense of love, teamwork, and camaraderie among the officers, all of whom were dressed in their distinguished uniforms.

The Premier reaffirmed his commitment, along with the Financial Secretary, to supporting the department as they work tirelessly to protect the Virgin Islands' shores.

    Nuff respect to our team of ALL LOCAL Custom Officers. The RVIPF should follow a similar route by making the force a STRICTLY LOCAL ENTITY..
