VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- On Saturday, October 28, 2023, the first of the two Mourant HLSCC College Classic races being held in Virgin Gorda kicked off at the new location of the HLSCC Virgin Gorda Centre at The Village Rose, The Valley.

Race Director Mrs Stephanie Russ-Penn, according to a press release from HLSCC on November 7, 2023, said the eager twenty-nine participants did not allow the evening’s rainy weather to deter them.

Mrs Russ-Penn added that the runners became the first to attempt the new route, which started on the main road between The Village Rose and Buck’s Supermarket, towards the foot of The Baths and returning to the start area.

Newcomer to the event, John Alexander was the overall winner running 12 minutes 57.11 seconds while, 14-year-old, Charli Seddon running 16 minutes 24.46 seconds was the top female participant.

HLSCC teamed up with the Valley Sound Lions Club during this race, which also served as a race in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.
