CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI — A 58-year-old woman from St Thomas was the 23rd person in the US Virgin Islands (USVI) to die of COVID-19, the Department of Health (DOH) announced Tuesday night, November 3, 2020.

"After further investigating cause of death and ensuring notification of next of kin, the Virgin Islands Department of Health is saddened to confirm the territory’s twenty-third death related to COVID-19. The deceased is a 58-year old female on St. Thomas," DOH said in a statement.

The announcement comes one day after DOH revealed that a 65-year-old St Croix male died of the virus.

COVID-19 cases, which have been surging in the US, are ticking higher in the US Virgin Islands, with DOH reporting 14 COVID-19 cases Friday. On Monday, the department reported 7 cases and is currently tracking 36 actives: 16 on St Croix, 19 on St Thomas and 1 on St John.

DOH did not say whether the victim was hospitalised at the Schneider Regional Medical Center, or whether she passed elsewhere.

May God grant her peace. And may her family members, relatives, and friends be comforted by God's grace. And may we all join hearts and hand to and do support one anothers daily.
