$20K bail for man who breached protection order

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- A man has been granted bail in the sum of $20,000 after he allegedly breached a protection order.

According to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) Arrest Blotter for June 4 – June 18, 2023, Police arrested and charged Leroy Thomas, 46, of Sea Cows Bay for Breach of Protection Order on June 4, 2023.

Thomas was taken before the Magistrate’s Court and granted bail in the sum of $20,000.

He is to appear before Magistrate’s Court on June 29, 2023.

UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF A CONTROL DRUG

  1. On 06-06-2023 at about 1416hrs, Police arrested and charged a 16-year-old male of Belmont Estate with the offences of Possession of a Control Drug with Intent to Supply to Another and Possession of a Control Drug. He was granted bail in the sum of $10,000 with one surety to appear before Magistrate’s Court on 18-07-2023.
  2. On 12-06-2023 at 2100hrs, Police arrested and charged Tyler Vanterpool Christian, 22, of Horse Path for the Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Drug. He was granted bail to in the sum of $3,000 with one surety to appear before Magistrate’s Court on 27-07-2023.

WOUNDING

  1. On 07-06-2023 at 1655hrs, Police arrested and charged Walter Springette, 40, of Sea Cows Bay for Wounding and Causing Grievous Bodily Harm with Intent. He appeared before Magistrate’s Court and was placed on remand.
  2. On 12-06-2023 at 1618hrs, Police arrested and charged Ke'moi Cadore, 28, of Windy Hill for the Wounding. He was granted bail in the sum of $5,000 with one surety to appear before Magistrate’s Court on 24-07-2023.

CARRYING AN UNLICENCED FIREARM

  1. On 10-06-2023 at about 2330hrs, Police arrested and charged Casheem Walters, 31, of Josiah’s Bay for Carrying an Unlicenced Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. He was granted bail in the sum of $70,000 to appear before Magistrate’s Court at a later sitting.
  2. On 10-06-2023 at about 2330hrs, Police arrested and charged Khalil Jason Winter, 25, of Major Bay for Carrying an Unlicenced Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. He was granted bail in the sum of $70,000 to appear before Magistrate’s Court at a later sitting.

UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF A FIREARM

On 15-06-2023 at about 1226hrs, Police arrested and charged Travis Osbourne, 29, of Carrot Bay with two counts of Keeping an Unlicensed Firearm. He appeared before the Magistrate’s Court and was placed on remand.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

On 11-06-2023 at 1720hrs, Police arrested and charged Miguel A Encarnacion, 38, a native of Dominica Republic for Criminal Damage and Criminal Trespass. He appeared before Magistrate’s Court and was placed on remand.

DRIVING WITHOUT DRIVER'S LICENSE

On 12-06-2023 at about 1710hrs, Police arrested and charged a 17-year-old male of Parham Town for Driving without Driver's License, Drive Unlicensed, Uninsured vehicle, Tinted Windows, Driving without Seatbelt and Giving Police False Information. He was granted bail with one surety to appear before Magistrate’s Court on 24-07-2023 at 0900hrs.

      POLICE HARASSMENT? THE MORAN VIOLATED THE ORDER OF PROTECTION THAT HE WAS SERVED. DUDE NEEDS A GOOD A.. WHIPPING. 46 YEARS OLD AND SHOULD KNOW BETTER. LEAVE THE WOMAN ALONE IF SHE DON’T WANT TO BE BOTHERED.

      @ Soooooo, I was thinking the same thing. If he broke an order of protection (a piece of paper) and only get bail, where is the protection for the victim? Jail his behind to keep away until the trial because he can go over again and next time might kill the victim.

      It’s completely sad how this system works. I had to relocate to another island because the same happened to me. Police arrested my abuser two days later after I reported the matter and he was granted bail even though he assaulted me infront of my children. One can only
      Hope nothing detrimental happens to any victims before they start taking these matters more serious.
