GREENLAND, Tortola, VI- Cricket fans were treated to two entertaining matches on the opening day of the 2026 BVI Cricket Association (BVICA) T20 Tournament at Greenland on February 22, 2026.

Both the 2025 finalists, Cavaliers, and the defending champions, Vikings, got their campaign off to a winning start.

Cavaliers chased down 136 to defeat Police by 4 wickets in just 11.4 overs. Jason Bobb-Semple (36 runs and 2 wickets) starred with an all-round performance to earn Man of the Match honours, albeit in a losing effort, while Ricky Singh sealed the win in style with a blazing finish.

Gavin Hitnarine, with 24 runs, and Any Ramotar, with 32 runs, were the leading wicket takers for Cavaliers.

2 centurians, 1 winner

In the afternoon run-fest, Vikings edged Grenada by 13 runs after posting a massive 259 for 6. Julian Bannet smashed a stunning 124 off 42 balls, Anil Mohabir scored 45 and Johnny bailey contributed 38 to the Vikings' total. Fabian Bailey captured 3 wickets for Grenada, although he conceded 61 runs from his 4 overs.

Grenada’s Derrol Redhead nearly stole the show with a sensational 145 off 50 balls— earning Man of the Match despite the loss. No other Grenadian batsman was able to get going; however, Monty Butler resisted for 18 runs before he lost his stumps.

Jieunick Mingo ended with figures of 4 wickets for 47 runs from his 4-over spell. Deco Kemraj captured 2 wickets to further peg back Grenada.

Two games will be played every Sunday at Greenland Playfield until the tournament concludes.

Today, March 1, 2026, will see Royal Knights against RTW Falcons from 9:30 AM, and Grenada versus VI Blazers from 1:30 PM.
