POCKWOOD POND, Tortola, VI - Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) says while the 2023 General Election is confirmed to be happening in the Virgin Islands, the exact polling day is yet to be decided.

The Premier was at the time speaking to the media at the conclusion of the VIP Congress and Elections at the R&R Malone Complex in Pockwood Pond on Sunday evening, February 5, 2023.

Date to be shared in near future - Premier

“Well of course there's a date that we cannot go past, and we know that time is drawing near. We haven't decided on an exact date as yet, that is something that will be shared in the very near future.

“The Minister for the Overseas Territories [Lord Frank Zacharias Robin Goldsmith] has basically confirmed in his statement that we will be having general elections in the near future and, of course, the people of the Virgin Islands must get ready,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Premier said the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) will soon introduce to the people of the Virgin Islands its new elections candidates, along with the incumbents.

Legislation still has to be passed - Premier

He said candidates will detail what was done over the past four years to get the VI through hurricane recovery, the COVID-19 era, and inflationary periods as a result of the Russia-Ukraine war and how the party will be positioning the local economy for greater prosperity and success.

He said ahead of elections, legislators will continue going to the House of Assembly and pass much-needed legislation to advance local institutions and ensure that the economy runs well.

“It's a balancing act because, of course, the VIP we have to prepare for the General Election but as persons who are ministers and members of the House of Assembly, we certainly have to be responsible and we have to continue the governance of the Virgin Islands right up until when the election is called,” Premier Wheatley said.

Early election always favour Govt...Give opposition less time to get together and properly prepared.. The end of March would have been a good date...Get it done and over.

They made claimed Months ago that the current Unity Government was working as one. But secretly, they are not.
This is no more a secret any longer to many that thought it was.

The current Premier, Hon. Natalio Sawande Wheatley will run under the VIP banner. The At Large Minister Carvin Malone will also run under the VIP Party banner. Mr. Allen Wheatley to run under the VIP Party banner in an effort to dethrone Health Ministers Marlon Penn, Rep. D8). The current Health Minister current Health Minister Marlon Penn desires the Premier, same ambition do other Ministers, and hope-to-be ones, coming next general election. position.

It has been reported that no later by March 12, 2023 or there about, if I haven't misread, that the next general election date will announce.

I am not too a hard man to please, but I will not be pleased, if the expected voters voted into power political leader that will deliberately, continuingly, mismanagement of our finances at the experience of our people, especially the weak, the poor, the most need one, for their own gratification, and lust for celebrity status.

In the history of Democratic exercises in the BVI, we have before us a golden opportunity to choose wisely. Bellow, I will make it very plain how think and act
    1. Think of our Creator from a heart of love, and vote likewise.
    2. Think of others from a heart full of love, and vote, and vote likewise.
    3. Think of self with our heart full of love, and vote likewise.

If we meet those three principles, victory for the people of our Country will be assured, if not, we will have vote in vain,. good governance is within our reach. Coming next general election day, let vote wisely, not selfishly, as we have done many times in the past.

it is high time for there to be a definite date for elections: no one man or his bosom buddies should keep the rest of us sitting in limbo when it comes to an election date

I know a lot of people saying will not vote for VIP, and truly I have no plans to hear or vote for any party all the way.

Firstly, to me all have dropped the ball when dealing with the people of the territory. They have let greed assume them and blind them of the purpose and reason they were given the job in the first place. So now; many and can step up or will not step up because things are not like before. And truly no one can be blame other than the Leaders of these islands

Each and everyone of them and their parties members are to be blame for such injustice done to your our people.

Those members of BVI investment club, VIP, NDP, and all who supported all the corruption and fault that now have our island in it's current state.

I will have to think long and hard before i get up and go vote for someone again

You can't be serious?!! Really!! This is what we are doing now?? 'Shove it up the person who push you' you'll go too far now. No respect for the office of the Premier, and to compound the issue, you have involved his mom in your nasty comment! Way too far!

True! I would never vote for this man but that is truly not our way of communicating. That’s not our culture. That person can’t be a VIslander. Sounds like they were raised by wolves.
