ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI– What was forecasted to be an exciting weekend for basketball fans in the Virgin Islands (VI) with the start of the 3rd Annual District League Basketball Games on Saturday, July 8, 2023, has now resulted in disappointed fans following news of the postponement of the opening games.

President of BVI Basketball Federation, Mr Derrick R. Varlack speaking to the press said while he regrets the postponement due to circumstances beyond their control, a new date for the opening games will be announced in the future.

It remains unclear the exact reason for the postponement of the games, however, this means district teams will have to battle it out at a later start date to determine the 2023 champs.

The league was also expected to host its award ceremony for last year's season in the interlude between the Junior and Senior category division games that were scheduled for tomorrow.

Our News Centre will bring more details once they become available.
