POND BAY, Virgin Gorda, VI – Official stats from the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board (BVITB) have indicated that the 2023 Christmas in July event hosted annually at Pond Bay, Virgin Gorda in the Virgin Islands has broken attendance records with some 5,500 people and 475 vessels attending the event this year.

BVITB in a press release said the number of attendees broke the event’s attendance record, making it the most successful edition in its history, with attendees from Puerto Rico, the British territory, and other countries.

Christmas in July’s 11th edition also stood out for its environmental protection efforts, such as prohibiting the use of plastic bottles and cups, placing recycling stations throughout the beach to avoid pollution, and selling over 3,800 of the event's official reusable tumblers.

Some proceeds donated to Non-Profit organisaton

The event’s organisers donated 15% of the profits from the sale of the tumblers to Beyond the Reef, a nonprofit organisation in the Virgin Islands that focuses on marine environmental education and preservation efforts.

The event was organised by Wally Castro Marine, Marcos Rivera, and the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board.

Ahead of the official stats, Director of Tourism at the BVI Tourist Board, Clive L. McCoy had called the 2023 Christmas in July a massive success and one that was incident free.

Speaking exclusively to Virgin Islands News Online (VINO), on July 24, 2023, he said, “From all accounts, it was very successful, it was incident free, and just from chatting from persons on the beach, even though it was a little hot, everyone seemed to have an amazing time,” Mr McCoy said.

The only reason that these event was so successful, is because the BVI government had nothing to do with it. Yes TB promoted it but that's just because. But let government get there hands in it, it will be doomed like the music festival and or emancipation festivities. Imagine that you're celebrating emancipation from slavery and you have to pay? Music festival was free and that was a success until they started charging for entry. Now carnival is coming up but u have to pay to go in

Invite them to come to a crusade to hear the Word of God and they turn their heads. One of these days they will want the Lord and will not find him.

Wake Up people. Why wasn't the money donated house to house for the struggling folks. Everyone knows who's struggling on the island so why not give to them. You All only give to people who have because all of you all work for the devil. Only wicked , selfish people does get..the real and honest people always get the worst. I see it in All family. You all rather someone who does what everyone else does. No one does things for people without waiting something in return
