ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Police are said to be investigating the theft of two vehicles on Tortola, which occurred separately last night and this morning, respectively.

According to reports reaching our news centre, both vehicles have been subsequently recovered, albeit under different circumstances.

Car thief collided with motor scooter rider

Our News Centre was told that the first vehicle stolen was a white Nissan SUV and that it was reportedly taken from the vicinity of Pussers in Road Town last night, July 12, 2025.

The car thief, however, did not get very far with the vehicle as he became involved in an accident with a motor scooter on Waterfront Drive, in the vicinity of Digicel.

The driver then fled the scene on foot.

The injured scooter rider was taken to Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital.

Stolen vehicle abandoned @ CGB

The other vehicle, a white Haval Jolion, was stolen from the area known as Fonseca Corner in Road Town this morning, July 13, 2025.

Our News Centre was told that the vehicle was subsequently abandoned in Cane Garden Bay.

Seems like these owners leave their keys in the car. If that the case, they are very careless and should fix the man Scooter and pay his medical bills

Yes, some also leave their cars running with nobody in it while they go into stores, etc.

It's only one person's fault and that's the scumbag thief. If I left my house open and a criminal comes to steal and my dogs tear is nasty smelly behind off, you want me to pay for his medical bills. STFU.

And there’s no chance that the owner was out drinking, had an accident, ran off and then reported his car stolen so he didn’t get done for drink driving and causing an accident?

I’d say that one of them was someone driving home drunk from Pussers, had an accident, fled the scene then reported the car stolen!

It's a possibility / and you seems to be on the defensive , so don't you think it will be a good idea to give the police all the necessary information

Defensive? No. Just using a bit of common sense. It would be handy if the investigators did the same. they should, at the very least, be ruling it out as a possibility.

I am not from here, but base on my observation the bvi is one of the safest place in the entire caribbean to live and this needs to be preserved. The only way this will happen, everyone has to keep an eye out, report every suspicious activity, don't wait until they target you, because weather you believe or not, it is you next...

Common sense alone can tell that these vehicles were stolen by their family members, particularly children.

is only a summary offense in the BVI. Minimal punishment so no serious deterrent!
