2 taken to hospital after boat ran ashore @ Peter Island

PETER ISLAND, VI- At least 2 persons were taken to hospital after a powerboat beached at Peter Island on May 7, 2022.

Unconfirmed reports are that the incident took place just around midnight. It is unclear where exactly the vessel was headed when it ran ashore.

Some five persons were reportedly on the boat named Malu and two were taken to Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital by Virgin Islands Search and Rescue (VISAR).

At least one person, a female, reportedly suffered a neck injury.

      I know the captain of this boat very well, my family and I use him for water taxis all the time. He is extremely professional and takes safety very seriously, he gives safety briefings every time we get on the boat even though we’ve been out with him before. We’ve also never seen him drink. It’s sad to see that there was an accident but it must have been just that, an accident. I hope everyone on board is ok.

        Kind words, but he was captain of the boat, was he not? Peter Island is big, and he would have had to be going at some speed to end up high and dry as shown in photo.
        Also, accident took place May 7 but it took 10 days to report. Wonder why.
