In an August 7, 2026, press release, the RVIPF said this is as a result of their continued efforts to disrupt violent crime and remove illegal weapons from circulation.

The recoveries were made during ongoing investigations into recent incidents. 

Officers recovered: one (1) Glock pistol with one (1) pistol magazine; seventeen (17) rounds of 9mm calibre ammunition, two (2) high-powered rifles with three (3) rifle magazines, and one hundred (100) rounds of 5.56 calibre ammunition.

The RVIPF said all recovered items have been secured and submitted for forensic examination as investigations continue.

There was no mention of arrests.

Meaningful progress in recent investigations- ACoP

The RVIPF added that the seizure represents another significant disruption to the circulation of illegal firearms within the Virgin Islands and that by removing these weapons and ammunition from the streets, the RVIPF has reduced the potential for serious violence and reinforced its commitment to protecting the community.

“We understand the public's concern regarding violence in our communities. While I cannot comment on the specifics of active investigations, I want to assure the community that our officers are working tirelessly and making meaningful progress,” Acting Commissioner of Police Richard Ullger stated. 

“Removing these firearms from circulation is a direct result of that dedication and demonstrates our unwavering commitment to making the Virgin Islands safer for everyone.”
