ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI– Two persons have so far been found to be in breach of the new curfew regulations, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has said.

Effective September 19, 2021, the new curfew hours were reduced to four hours, between 1:00am and 5:00am, which means persons are to be off the road and at their residence before 1:00am.

“We are grateful to the public for working with us in obeying the new Curfew Order as we partner to reduce the spread of the coronavirus and its highly contagious variants.

So far only two persons were found in breach of the current curfew regulations. We remain confident that the community will continue to comply with the regulations which remain in effect until October 3,” Acting Commissioner of Police Jacqueline E. Vanterpool stated in an RVIPF press release today, September 28, 2021.

Speeding on the roadways to beat curfew

Vanterpool noted her appreciation to the many who have adhered to the curfew regulations and worked with the police in restricting movement during the Government-issued order.

The Acting Commissioner noted the importance that individuals allow themselves sufficient time to get to their final destinations before the start of the nightly curfew at 1:00am. She said during previous curfew restrictions, persons have been found speeding to make it home before the prescribed hour.

“We want to appeal to drivers to exercise even more caution when using the roads in the hours just before the start of the nightly curfew and leave for your destination in enough time to accommodate any unforeseen roadway interruptions.

Persons who may need to leave their residence during curfew hours should contact the RVIPF Control Room at 311 or 368-5340 and speak with the Duty Inspector prior to taking any action.

Persons with information of individuals or establishments that are in violation of the curfew order are asked to contact the RVIPF through its three-digit access number 311 or the Intelligence Unit at 368-9339.

Or how about LIFTING THE CURFEW? If someone crashes and dies because they were trying to comply with your ridiculous anti-science curfew, the blood will be on your hands.

The curfew need to stay until the wild untrained animals is trained to follow order. The only persons who should be on the road during curfew is ESSENTIAL WORKERS.

When the curfew started at 10pm everyone was off the road so there should be no issue with 1pm. There's no excuse.

That's what you think. If they patrol those back roads they would see cars speeding cross all times of the morning during what they call "Curfew". My neighbour reach home way after 1 a.m. this morning and startle me out of my sleep because they couldn't even get the vehicle drive into the yard without making skidding noises. SMH.
