ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Officers of the Major Incident Team within the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) on April 24, 2024, arrested and charged two persons in connection with the April 30, 2023, murder of Kemo A. Lettsome at Long Look, Tortola.

Charged are 32-year-old Vernon Bernard of Manuel Reef and 28-year-old Jelani Marquis of Hannah’s Estate.

According to the RVIPF, in a press release late April 24, 2024, this arrest comes following an intensive investigation that spanned close to one year.

It said on the date of the incident, Lettsome, along with other persons, was present at a family gathering when he was fatally shot. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The RVIPF said the charging of both Bernard and Marquis represents a significant breakthrough in this case, providing hope for closure and healing to the family and wider community affected by this tragic event.

'Unwavering commitment to justice & community safety'

Commissioner Collins states, “I commend the exemplary dedication and tireless efforts of our officers who have been instrumental in reaching this pivotal stage of the investigation. Their commitment to justice and community safety has been unwavering, and it's their hard work that brings us closer to justice for the victim and his family.”

The investigation is still ongoing, and the RVIPF has assured the public that every effort is being made to gather all necessary evidence.

"We will continue to provide updates as they become available while respecting the investigation's integrity. The RVIPF expresses gratitude to the community for its support and cooperation throughout this investigation.

"We urge anyone with additional information about this matter or any other murder within the territory to contact the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800- 8477(TIPS) or the RVIPF Intelligence Department at 368-9339. All information will be treated as confidential," the RVIPF stated in the press release.

The court system and its parasites proudly keep putting criminals back on the street then act surprised that there is so much crime. We need a change.

Hopefully, they will be convicted and not released back onto the streets to commit more crimes. Performance measures must be put in Public legal officers' employment contracts and letters as these cases are life-altering to the affected families and communities.https://bvinews.com/trio-accused-of-killing-trumayne-passion-daway-freed/

if he was kept in jail for Passion murder then he won't have been out to allegedly kill Kimo. So let's hope he is kept in prison for the rest of his life, so he can not allegedly destroy any more families. Only God know if he's not responsible for more, and why wasn't he deported back to Dominica after passion like they did DA and other's?.

Good job yes... It is sad we have seen these two in the news before yet I suppose we have no supervised release or any safeguard. They had no worries to rearm, ride dirty & reoffend apparently.

How?????? The police just picking on him cause how.... some time back or last year their pick him up for question on a different murder and it was him they let him go. now them pick him up again hmmmmmm. some time we need to read between the line with these police officers once you do a crime and get found not guilty ever crime that happen after that them pick you up first.

look at the young man who just off year before a crime happen them pick him up now look this year he got off why cause it wasnt him and nothing was ever brought forward to confirm it was him.

th epolice really need to do them job then just picking up people that was in jail before.

Any angel investors want to get serious about security cameras along the roads?

Government & police are lacking all talk talk talk after providing police with millions.

2x4 island and its as if they want crimes to happen with our lack of legal firearms for citizens & lack of surveillance of the roads. The murderers always drive away, I never heard of them taking off.

Government don’t want help. Anytime you offer to do something they tell you no “we can do it for ourselves” cause they want you to give them the money. Hay craft was smart. God bless him, because if it were not for him we would not have a school to put Enid and Althea students right now. Till now they can’t even fix the playground. A simple thing like that!
