ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI– Officers of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) Family and Juvenile Unit have charged a 19-year-old male with five counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 16 years.

Kadeem Callwood, a US citizen residing in Cane Garden Bay, was granted bail in the sum of $15,000.

He is required to appear before the Magistrate’s Court on October 15, 2021.

Other charges are likely to be laid in this matter, the RVIPF said in a press release today, September 8, 2021.

Head of the Family and Juvenile Unit Acting Inspector Kendolph Bobb, according to the press release, is reminding the public that the law is clear and severe when it comes to any kind of sexual contact with a minor.

“The Virgin Islands Criminal Code 1997 stipulates that any male over the age of 14 years commits an offense if he has sexual intercourse with a minor female. A girl under the age of 16 cannot consent to any form of sexual activity. Therefore, it is an offence for a male over the age of 14 to engage in sex or have any sexual contact with a girl under the age of 16. This is called statutory rape since, according to the law, the girl is considered to be too young to legally consent to have sex or sexual contact.” he said.

He added that parents, guardians, teachers, coaches, school bus drivers and leaders in youth groups are encouraged to share this message far and wide.

“An offender could be sentenced to seven years in prison for unlawful sexual intercourse. Ignorance is not bliss in this case,” he added.

Shut ya face. Even if the girl is naked in the street a man has no right to touch a woman without LEGAL consent. It's people like you that have allowed criminals to get away with these things for years. Stop victim shaming.

He is suffering from immaturity. 19 years old should be working or om college, not going back to high school for female companionship. He should be looking for someone om his age level and not someone who hasn't even graduated high school. I don't want to hear anything about young girls being flirtatious and attracted to older men... He knows better!

Some of those young girls is to damn fast and think they are grown. But if you are a older man you should know better. Leave those under age young girls alone. All you doing is setting yourself up for a prison cell.

We need to stop blaming young girls. They are the victims and some young boys are too.

Only as an adult did I learn a lot of secrets about Nature's Little Secret. So many people grew up living with perverts and being sold by the very adults who should have been protecting them as kids.

When you see young kids acting a certain way you should start asking yourself why? Why doesn't minor respect her body enough to protect it? Why are they advancing so quickly into adult things? Why do they want to dress and act like adults so quickly? Sometimes these kids aren't even old enough to have periods or a bass voice before they start behaving like adults.

We have a lot of sick and disgusting people in this place and everyone knows it and nothing gets done about it. It's just a topic for a queen show sketch but the pain and misery this sickos inflict is real.

Children get hurt and the family choses to silence them to protect their brother or father or uncle. Out of frustration of having no refuge or anyone to trust the kids turn on themselves and become self-destructive. They go to school and teachers say they are rude.

They are in pain and we condemn them because we're too busy pretending to be peaceful but it's war in our homes. Then we look at society and say that the young people don't care. But by ignoring their pain we told them they didn't matter so why should they care? We are an apathetic society at best.

At worse...I don't even have the words for it. I once remember a story on this same site with the CoP saying they'll take child sexual abuse more seriously and someone commented how some children are asking for it. These things should automatically be reported. Give their IP address to the police and have the police show up to talk to them.

And no this isn't happening to one group of people. These stories pervade through all social and economic classes, race and religion. Some people think, "Not my family!" But they never really asked or looked into it. Don't assume the kids are fine. They might not be.

The level of nastiness in this place is unbelievable.

    @ Sad & Let’s keep it real

Reading this story and comments especially from both of you, brought to mind two incidents that happen years ago involving to teen girls.

The first was early 2000 where a 12/13 year old still in primary school got pregnant. It was a shock in society. The amount of men that was caught in this is appalling. Some were almost three time her age and older than her parents. That young lady life was ruin and to this date she still struggling to take care of herself.

The next happen a few years later. This young lady was in high school and fifteen. To most people she may appear to be older than she is due to having full breast and a well shape figure. Many men would cat call her even when in uniform. She had a relationship with a man who was charge with statutory rape. According to him, she said she was 18 and he claim he would go to her home and visit. At no time did anyone say she underage. She got pregnant and that when the story came out.
In both instances, the mothers were taking monies from their daughters. They both fail to protect their children from predators. This was so sad but even worse is that neither mothers care where they money came from until they were exposed.

I am tired of the victim blaming. There isn't a young girl "fass" enough to seduce a man with morals and respect. People need to stop letting the perpetrators off the hook. The criminal is ALWAYS to blame for any crime whether it be rape (statutory or otherwise), burglary or murder.

I have never seen a comment under a home invasion that says "they should've never had a house in the first place" or "he was too flashy he deserved to have his chain stolen" but when it comes to our young girls they are always "too fass"

It's time we stand up for our children (both males and females), protect them and teach them their value.
