17-year-old Adaejah T. Hodge reaches 200m semifinals on World C/Ships debut

BUDAPEST, Hungary- Making a first appearance at the World Athletics Championships today, August 23, 2023, Adaejah T. Hodge placed fourth in her heat in a time of 22.82 seconds, which was enough to eventually squeeze her into the semi-finals in Budapest, Hungary.

Hodge, 17, seemed headed for third place but was overtaken just before the finish line by Jessika Gbai of Ivory Coast.

That heat was won by race favourite Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson in 22.51.

Making the semifinals Hodge is ranked 20th of 24 making the semifinal qualification requirement by placing among the best six non automatic qualifiers.

Other semi-finalists are Sha'Carri Richardson, Gabrielle Thomas, Marie-Josee Ta Lou, Dina Asher-Smith and Julien Alfred.

The semifinals of the 200m are scheduled for August 24, 2023, at 1:45 PM local time.

McMaster in 400m Hurdles Final today

Meanwhile, Kyron A. McMaster will contest the final of the 400m hurdles at 3:50 PM [VI] time, today.

McMaster, who won his heat in 47.72 to reach the semis, will be running out of lane 8.

    Congratulations to her on making her debut in the World Champs. She needs to really attack from the start to keep up with Sherika and Shacari if she is to medal but this experience is golden for the Olympics. Go Team BVI!!
