15 advance to 2025 Primary Schools Spelling Bee finals


The primary schools' preliminary competition took place yesterday, Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the New Testament Church of God International Worship Centre Activity Hall.
Thirty-four students representing 17 primary schools participated in the first round, spelling words from the three-thousand-word bank.
The finalists are:

- Mya Mohamed (St George's Primary)
- Jahlia Jacobs-Castello (Alexandrina Maduro Primary)
- Trojon Lennard (Bregado Flax Educational Centre Primary Division)
- Taylor Phipps (Enis Adams Primary)
- Nayeli Hayne Lloyd (St George's Primary)
- Naliny Frazer (First Impressions Primary)
- Khailia Greaves (Willard Wheatley Primary)
- Lucas Anton Findlay (Joyce Samuel Primary)
- Kyra Hendrickson (Leonora Delville Primary)
- Mayah Brathwaite (First Impressions Primary)
- Dominique Ashley (Valley Day Primary)
- Rylan Adams (Enis Adams Primary)
The goal of the spelling bee competition is to promote students’ understanding of proper word usage and pronunciation; expand vocabulary and encourage a love of reading; inspire excellence in language skills; and provide students with an opportunity to connect and compete with their peers in an atmosphere of fun and camaraderie.
The primary school spelling bee finals will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
The Secondary School finals will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025.
