ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Commission of Inquiry Implementation Unit has advised the public it has reported to the Governor and Premier on the status of work completed up to the end of October 2022.

Based on the timelines agreed in the Framework for Implementation of the Recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) Report and Other Reforms, the Director of the Unit Ms Hadassah M. Ward has advised that work on 48 of the 50 Framework recommendations has begun. The remaining two are scheduled to begin in 2023.

73.1% Recommendations in progress & on track- Hadassah M. Ward

Ms Ward in a press release on November 25, 2022, said, “One Recommendation that was originally scheduled to begin in 2023 was begun early. The number of Recommendations completed remains at 13. Of the 35 recommendations being actioned now, 73.1 percent are in progress and on track and 26.9 percent are in progress with challenges to meet deadlines.”

She said that the Dashboard gives a pictorial summary of the status of the fulfilment of the CoI recommendations as agreed in the Framework. The Key shares each of the 50 Framework Recommendations, now being worked on as the main focus of Government of the Virgin Islands to raise our standards of governance in our beautiful Territory, so you can track the status of work on each recommendation.

Public can ask questions

If persons have any specific questions on the implementation of any of the CoI Framework Recommendations, they can email the CoI Implementation Unit directly at implementationunit@gov.vg.

The COI Implementation Unit assists in coordinating the overall delivery of the CoI recommendations, which includes providing support to ministries in developing work plans for the delivery of recommendations, assist in drafting policy directions, and the development of new programmes and systems.

The unit is also responsible for preparing monthly progress reports, reports on specific work programmes, and reports to identify key issues associated with implementation and suggest remedies.

The unit reports directly to the Permanent Secretary Mrs Carolyn E. Stoutt Igwe in the Premier’s Office, who chairs the CoI Implementation Steering Committee. The Governor and Premier receive the monthly report on the 15th of each month.

All I know is that there will be no elections. England may just suspend the constitution and use most of the unity government members as administrators to continue running the county's affairs. That's The Premier wish... He don't want election because he won't win. Pay attention to the game.

In reference to the topic issue: Thank you for your report. Please, if possible, keep us more often update on this critically important issue.
We are, hopefully most of us do understand the need to comply fully to implement the CoI 49, I read 50, recommendations in accordance to the agreement already agreed by the current Unity Government under our current Governor oversight that was appointed to him as an part of his duties his boss, the UK's government.

Vote your conscience. Like or dislike.

We'll never have a real Government in the territory until we get leaders who can stand up to the UK. Implementation of COI recommendations is valid but what is not right is the time frame for implementation. No one seems to have the courage or fortitude to express that to the Governor or UK.

there is already a criminal investigation in progress about the BVI airways fiasco, the permenant secretary of finace who allowed the money to go before the due time will be held accountable, not the idiots who made the decision

We need to drop this old chestnut. Yes we got civilly conned out of $7.2mil but I hear we have spent almost $9million chasing this ghost! Its not longer in the public interest to keep Martin Kenney rich and UK Police on a lovely holiday, the DPP should never have allowed this to proceed!
