12-year-old reportedly threatens to stab father with knife

- police called in & duo warned of offences after altercation outside home

PARHAM TOWN, Tortola, VI – The 12-year-old daughter of a Josiah’s Bay man has reportedly threatened to stab him with a knife on May 20, 2021, after he prevented her from speaking with a man on a scooter outside her Long Swamp home.

Sources told VINO, that the pre-teen threatened to stab the father in the head after he drove by the home and saw her speaking to the gentleman on a motorcycle.  

The police were called in after the altercation, and sources further indicated to VINO that the pre-teen told officers that it was the father who reportedly assaulted her first, which led to her threatening language and actions.

Both the father and the daughter were warned of the offences they committed in the presence of the mother.

Police recommended counselling for child 

The pre-teen was seriously warned of the offence of “Armed with an offensive weapon and threatening to endanger life,” and the father was warned of the offence of “Common assault”.

Our news centre understands that police also recommended that the mother seek counselling for her daughter, and officers vowed to make periodical checks on the family.  

The father was also warned of disorderly conduct following an incident at the workplace of the mother and all parties acknowledged that moving forward, they will keep the peace.

    IT IS WRONG FOR ANY PERSON OR PERSONS TO EXCUSED THE YOUTHS OF THEIR GOD COMMANDEF RESPONSIBULITY TO HONOR THEIR FATHER AND MOTHER. ANY HOME WHERE THE CHILDREN ALLOWED TO DO AND SAY AS THEY PLEASE THAT HOME IS EQUAL A SQUABLE HOUSE WHERE ANY SCRAMBLE BRAIN BOY CAN COME AND DEPOSIT GARBAGE. HOWEVER, PARENT IS RESPONSIBLE TO LEAD BY GOOD EXAMPLE. IN SPITE OF, NO PISSY TAIL 12 YEARS OLD SHOULD TREATEN TO STAB THEIR PARENT FOR TRYING TO PROTECT HER, EVEN IF HER BEHIND WASN'T PISSY.

    The parents are younger and younger each year. Most school teachers back in the day had gray hair. Today’s generation is so different. About 3 generation of parents went to a VIBE/ ShowTime/ Xtream jam.

    Yet in other conditions a lot of parents kinda condone certain behaviors. Imagine a 11 year old with the mind set to kill his parents for “whatever reasons” even if he was provoked as it always have two sides of the story.

    Some parents just take things too far. They’re quickly to attack their kids rather than have a conversation. Sometimes you just need to trust the fact that you are raising a good child and know that they are making the right decision. Yes at that moment, she should not be outside entertaining no boy. But at least be glad he’s not inside the house messing around. That girl must have had a lot of anger built up towards her parents for many reasons we may not know. I’m not saying it’s right for her to get a knife but I’m pretty sure she is trying to be heard but they are not listening. But that’s fine because when she gets older and never return home they’ll wonder what did they do wrong. All of their friends children will visit their parents and they will feel bad about it. They ALL NEED TO GO COUNSELING. But Caribbean parents never want to hear anything that they’re doing wrong. We need to stop that cycle.

        Thank you. I too have had a horrible relationship with my parents. Yes they are proud of how I turned out, very successful. But it definitely hindered our relationship because I couldn’t have simple conversations with them due to them being overprotective. Now, as an adult, I’m working on building that bond that should have already been established during childhood. Since this girl is already 12 I’m hoping that it’s not too late for them to fix things.

      This girl child doesn't have any right bringing any boy by the mother house..he out side today but tomorrow he i side .the father is right for stopping it from early..spear the rod and spoil the child (our future)

      got to ask if she work and if they live with her. At this rate preteen pregnancy and grandparent will have to bear the burden of raising another child. Full tome they build a place for these kids who have their parents hostage in the home.

    If she was mine she would have been gone out of my house right now.
    No ifs ands or buts..but my childrenknow long time the boundaries. She d o ne. She is nothing going forward and , evidently has been nothing for some time.

    My eldest sister lives in NY, she was married with 2 kids, boy and a girl, they are 3 years apart, some years ago when they were 14 and 17 respectively they were acting up in school , not doing their work, talking back to her, their dad was and still is an infidel, so she took them to Vincy for our family reunion and those two juveniles tried to disrespect her and she beat the crsp out of them , oh dhe went all Jean Claude Vandam on those two snort noses, lets just say they never pull that stunt ever again.
    The boy is Marine biologist for the state of Florida.
    The girl is an Anesthesiologist at Boston Medical Center.
    Poor Vincentian mothers don't play with their kids.
