12 hospitalised; 1 new admission to COVID-19 ICU

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr Ronald E. Georges has revealed that another person has been admitted to the COVID-19 ICU of the Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital in the Virgin Islands (VI).

The update came during a briefing tonight, July 8, 2021, via the Facebook page of the Government Information Service (GIS).

“Just as an update tonight, we currently have 2 persons in ICU, so we have another ICU admission and we have 10 persons in the special care COVID unit,” Dr Georges said.

The Chief Medical officer also indicated that for today, the COVID-19 unit had a total of one discharge and one admission. 

Meanwhile, Minister for Health and Social Development, Hon Carvin Malone (AL) observed a moment of silence for the individual who died this morning, July 8, 2021, after being hospitalised in intensive care with COVID-19.

Dr Georges in his briefing said the COVID-19 test results for today, July 8, 2021, will be released tomorrow, July 9, 2021.

        they were on the ventilator b/c they couldn't breathe on their own so without it they would've died sooner. infants have more senses than some of you.

      Boi. On my job also..them mash up. I said I thought you all was bulletproof. How you all so sick and not the unvaccinated ones? They have all kind of pain, fever, vomitting..them mash up. While my unvaccinated coworkers just have a lil sore throat.

          They not lying, same at my office. They came to work believing it just a high temperature or runny nose. One claim it was her allergies. The next day the office manager asked them to not come in and go see the doctor. Turns out they tested positive for the virus. Whole office had to be tested and now we working from home. They were fully vaccinated.

      You all always talking piss. The doctor indicated that out of the 12 persons that were hospitalized, 11 are unvaccinated. The one that is vaccinated was able to be treated and released. People in this place just ignorant and stupid.

    Who keeping track of the recovery numbers ?? For example my boss tested positive (even tho he had no symptoms) tested again elsewhere got negative does that change the data to one less positive case ? Also what about the people who have “flu” like symptoms and are recovered do they call back and give you guys an update so the information would be updated publicly?

      Honestly we don’t have the capacity to retest every person who tested positive. Therefore we should stick to identifying positive cases and ensuring that those persons remain in isolation for a specified period.

    Release whether those in icu are vaccinated or unvaccinated or esle you are fueling the skeptics. if not the blood of many will be on your hands. is ot worth it selling out your people for a vaccine agenda. at carvin malone and etc.. enjoy your 30 pieces of silver..

      They did say it in the press conference. 1 vaccinated and the rest unvaccinated. Furthermore, No vaccine is 100% effective and bear in mind some of these persons have underlying health issues.

      Why does ur matter if vaccinated or unvaccinated. If a person has underlying health conditions being vaccinated or not won’t matter - the virus will attack you even worst. Why is this soooo hard for you guys to understand. Vaccinated isn’t immunity but some protection but if you have an underlying health issue vaccination will not make a difference. It’s a virus that attacks the lungs …..

    How is an unvaccinated person at risk to the vaccinated when both can get the virus and spread it? If the only thing you all are promoting is that you would not get very sick and die what is the problem? How is an unvaccinated person a threat to the vaccinated.? I an unvaccinated person wants to take a risk and use herbs from the ground what on earth is the problem? You all need to stop with this wicked agenda, man! Leave people alone! Their body is theirs!

    All of us still have to wear our mask and sanitize. This has been going quite well until the vaccinated were allowed to come in this country without having to quarantine. The blood of dead will be on the government's hands!
