11 active COVID-19 cases now in VI- Hon Carvin Malone
In a COVID-19 update to the territory on December 17, 2020, Hon Malone said all the active cases are in quarantine.
“As of today, 17th of December 2020, the Epidemiological Summary indicates that the BVI now has a total of 11 active cases,” Hon Malone stated.
He said of the 11 positive cases detected since the Virgin Islands reopened its borders to international visitors on December 1, 2020, nine are tourists and two are returning residents.
Safe & secure in quarantine
“All persons were deemed asymptomatic and were deemed safe and secure in quarantine until they have completed the retest protocols yielding result to be considered recovered,” Hon Malone said.
The Health Minister said a total of 10, 483 samples from 10, 469 persons have been collected and tested at Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital Laboratory.
83 have tested positive, 74 recovered, 11 are active and one person has died.
