VIP’s grand motorcade drives through Tortola [Photoslide Included]
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – With honking horns, loud jingles, green and white attires and shouts of “VIP All the Way”, the grand motorcade of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) passed through the communities on Tortola yesterday November 5, 2011.
Starting from Wickham's Cay in Road Town, the parade continued towards the western end of Tortola, into Carrot Bay, Cane Garden Bay, then through the Ridge Road towards the eastern end of the Island, before making its way back to Road Town on the main road.
Led by the “Lady with the Torch”, cars were decorated with the green and white flags and posters of candidates of the Virgin Islands Party. Many on the motorcade were sporting the VIP colours and attires shouting slogans and blowing horns. The motorcade, which was brought live on radio on ZBVI, had jingles for all candidates blaring from a sound system and as they were about to enter a district, the jingle for that candidate was played.

Many persons were tracking the motorcade and with radio in their hands, came out on the road to get a glimpse of the carnival-like atmosphere. The grand parade wined down in Road Town close to 10 p.m., but not before touching some nerves as they passed through the Sunday Morning Well area where the People’s Patriotic Alliance was holding its grand rally and close to the National Democratic Party’s grand rally at the Bandstand, at which point the VIP’s motorcade stepped up the heat with louder honking, shouting and blaring jingles.
The VIP’s campaign trail cools down this afternoon Sunday November 6, 2011 with another grand Motorcade, this time in the 3rd district, starting at 4 p.m. from Delta Gas Station and ending at Albion Well where the grand Rally begins at 7:30 p.m.
