Security guard roughed up by irate customer @ Fish Bay
The incident allegedly occurred at Drakes Traders at Fish Bay yesterday, May 6, 2020.
According to one customer, who said he was in line in his vehicle, he observed the security guard letting a vehicle in ahead of others.
“I got to understand that the vehicle he let in was not going to the store but to the warehouse and all of us in line were going to the store so it made sense.”
The eyewitness said that he didn’t hear the full argument that ensued between a man, who got out of his vehicle, and the security guard, “But I can tell you that man was full of wrong, he was up in the security man face. He constantly pointed his hand at him while all the security kept doing was explaining that he is following the rules.”
Customer gets physical
It is alleged that the verbal exchange between the two men escalated and persons claimed to witness the customer aggressively poking the security officer in his chest.
“The security did the right thing, he walked away and while he was walking away that man attacked him again insisting that he is a customer and no security should try to stop him from entering,” alleged the eyewitness.
As part of its COVID-19 measures, Drakes Traders has been encouraging customers to remain in their vehicles until their turn to enter the store.
This news site understands that the alleged assault matter was reported to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) and investigations are ongoing.

Encounter No 1. I went to National Bank and I observe the security guard putting customer in a different line that I and others were in. So I queried with the security guard what the line represent, he said to me essential workers. Now some of the customers that I saw him directed to the line, I know for a fact they were not essential workers. So asked the security guard who are essential workers he replied government works, those that he directed to the special line. I said to the security guard either in the briefing you misunderstood or you were misinformed. He said to me that what was said to him. I seized the opportunity to enlighten him as to who are classified as essential workers.
Encounter No 2. My spouse and I when to Bobby's supermarket to do some shopping, so we are standing in line. together waiting our turn to tidy up our hands to enter the store. Here come the security guard telling us we can't stand together. I said to the security guard the lady that is standing next to me is my spouse. He echoed again you all can't stand together. I let him to know, don't start nothing you can finish partner. I have said that to say this, discretion and common sense can go a far way, a lot of them don't have none of them. So a lot more of them is going to get hand scrabble before this is all over.
You did the right thing Security Officer by not engaging in the buffoonery.
This is the only opportunity we the people have to express the good and bad in society,because those in authority,in high positions,do not listen to us,but when we blogg intelligently on vino,they will respend.

Section 183 of the Criminal Code, 1997, laws of the Virgin Islands,defined and criminalized certain actions in public to be a common assault:-
[" Any person who unlawfully assaults another commits an offence and if, the assault not committed in circumstances for which a greater punishment is provided by this or any other law,is liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year or to a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars OR BOTH"]
So according to the law,assault is a very serious offence,under BVI law.
In our court of public opinions on this news site, based on the reliable reporting of vino,having interviewed credible witnesses, legal team and associates applied the facts to the law,and find this man guilty as charged by the bloggers.
We will call on the police,to arrest and sentence him.
