Red Cross Week being observed

This annual celebration recognises the incredible contributions of Red Cross and Red Crescent staff and volunteers around the world, and reaffirms their shared commitment to humanity, compassion, and resilience.
According to the BVI Red Cross, Red Cross Week holds deep significance as it commemorates the birth of Henry Dunant, the founder of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, and the first Nobel Peace Prize laureate.
It is a time, according to the BVI Red Cross, to celebrate the impact of humanitarian service, highlight the vital work of our volunteers, and raise awareness of the importance of preparedness, relief, and support in times of crisis.
Outreach activities & community events
Throughout the week, the BVIRC will engage in a series of outreach activities and community events designed to showcase the role of the Red Cross in building safer, healthier, and more resilient communities across the Territory.
"Red Cross Week is not only a celebration of our legacy but a call to action," said Ms Stacy C. Lloyd, Director of the BVI Red Cross. "It reminds us of the power of kindness, the strength of community, and the vital role we all play in responding to those in need."
The BVIRC extends heartfelt thanks to its dedicated volunteers, partners, and supporters whose generosity and commitment continue to drive its humanitarian mission forward.
