Jenifer David BVITB Human Resources Manager fired!

Ms. Jenifer David the Human Resources Manager was fired from her post at the BVI Tourist Board last month. According to this news site's sources close to the matter, it was an internal matter and alleged violation that were discovered that led to the termination of the officer and “politics played no role.” photo: Facebook
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Word coming in to this news site from our team of reporters around the Virgin Islands is that Ms. Jenifer David, the Human Resources Manager for the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board (BVITB) has been terminated from her post at the BVITB.

She was terminated last month and the issues surrounding her termination remain unclear and it is ironic that the officer responsible for facilitating the hiring of staff at the Board is herself,  now looking for a job!

Calls to the Chairman of the BVI Tourist Board Russell Harrigan and Acting Director Mrs. Malcia Smith-Hamilton were not returned on the topic.

A source close to the sacking matter told Virgin Islands News Online that, it was an internal matter and alleged violation that were discovered that led to the termination of the officer and “politics played no role.”

Over the past years the Tourist Board has been rocked by scandals from financial improprieties, law suits from its clients and overspending on certain projects.

The National Democratic Party (NDP) Government has yet to articulate a clear policy to the public on the direction of its plans for the sector.  However, the Board’s funding has been cut according to the 2012 Budget.

One major project that was supposed to boost the industry,  the Cruise Pier extension project was forced to slow down after the United Kingdom demanded that it goes to public tender.

The Minister for Communications and Works Honourable Mark Vanterpool had already announced on talk shows, on radio and online news that the project will be executed by Tortola Ports Partners consisting of a consortium of US-Based United Infrastructure and Cashman Groups.

The Human Resources Manager’s post vacated by the sacked David is now being advertised along with that of a new Director of the BVI Tourist Board.

It was this news site that broke the story, that following the 2011 general elections the NDP Administration had a hand in forcing out current Director Hadassah Ward.  Ms. Ward remains on leave (portion of which is maternity) however, when she returns she is expected to be transferred to the Premier’s Office.

The BVI Tourist Board is a statutory Government Body that falls under the Premier’s Office.

Yes, she is a belonger by marriage so as far as I am concern she is still an expat who care nothing for our people. You think if she had come up in my face insulting me and I defend myself and what I was doing to help another employee when she kept ignoring that employee I would have gone home when she told me to? She would have been the one going home. She is not our skin colour so I dont expect her to be any different from thoe in the days gone by.

Why people love to support ignorance so? What you mean she wasn't fired by the right authority? If she was fired it would have to be in accordance with the law, maybe the 'expat' reported whatever it was but no expat that's not the Director or Chairman can fire anybody on their own. You all love too much confusion. If she was wrongfully dismissed, let her have her day in court, if not, let her learn a lesson. We support too much wrong doing in this place. All of you bickering never stop to ask if the girl really did something wrong and needed to be sent home? Schupps.

agree with you 100%. Only she the chairman and the director probably knows waht happened. It is a shame when people dont know the details and jump to conclusions. WHen persons are interviewing for jobs they should be properly vetted. This could have been avoided

Inside,r you will be surprised as to well established institutions here in the BVI where the HR manager in any company is talking out the employees business on the street and to other fellow employees, and doing other crooked things to employees. It does happen at businesses here in the BVI, I can testify to that.

ah seh only in TOLA! you know how long Jennifer got terminated and now the news catch it. well anyway, let me tell you all something, You see Jennifer David, she was the best thing Tourist Board had, she was the best human resources manager any organization can have. She stood up for the staff at the BVI Tourist Board, but i knew when the Government Changed to the NDP, it was only a matter of time before they would get rid of her. Tourist Board is a wonderful place to work but the people who are in charge and running it are MONSTERS. when you talk to somebody about the treatment you are dismissed without reason, THIS NONSENSE HAS TO STOPPED!!!!!!!!!!!!! Obviously this Government don't have time for it's people! so election day, we know what we going do! Chiefy i know your hands are tied but there are alot of stupidy in Tourist Board. ONLY WHEN SOMETHING SERIOUS HAPPEN, YOU ALL WILL SAY, IF YOU HAD KNOWN. GOVERNMENT STOP TURNING A BLIND EYE AND JUMP IN AND TAKE CARE OF THINGS. MIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get your facts straight- you are busy tearing down an 'expat' and know nothing. The expact GREW UP in the BVI that is why she is a Belonger and She had nothing to do with hiring or firing of people as she is NOT a Senior Manager. Jealousy my people is a dangerous thing!!
