Flush her out if you cannot flush by Nov. 7
“If by any chance on the 7th of November, 2011 you cannot flush as the Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party in 2007 instructed us to flush the then ruling party out of power, I think it’s only right that if we cannot flush by the 7th of November that we flush the current representative out for not performing her duties,” Sylvester said during his meeting held at Hope Hill last evening October 14, 2011.
The 8th district candidate recalled that during the 2007 campaigning, the spokesperson for the VIP urged voters that if the sewerage problem is not fixed by August 20, 2007, which was the day of the last general elections, that they should flush the NDP out of office.
“I remember the last election, the last representative before the current representative did not fulfill his promise of completing our sewerage problem and the spokesman … that we listen to for the ruling party, they were the opposition, he said to us if we cannot flush, if we the voters cannot flush by the 20th of August 2007, we must vote the then ruling party out of power… and we went and we did vote them out and we vote them out ridiculously, we give them 11-2,” he said.
Sylvester said it is high time the sewerage problem be fixed which he referred to as a “tourist and resident” deterrent, noting that the current government continues to say they will fix it, or they are getting to it.
“I am saying to us that spokesman is back again … and after four years, they just start to put in some pipes up East End, they up in the alleys giving contracts thinking that we are fools, they think our memories are short. When we elected a lady and that lady sat for four years as our Deputy Premier and four years later we still don’t have the sewerage problem solved in East End Long Look.
When we go in Greenland we are in trouble but this same man told us four years and months ago if you cannot flush, vote them out and we are obedient people and we put a stalwart who we thought could have delivered for us in four years. Its four years later and we still walking in sewerage … Now there is no money, the money is finished people so we will have to walk in sewerage a little longer,” the independent candidate pointed out.
He told 8th district residents that if they do not elect someone “who knows and who has been through trying times of building companies, to the House of Assembly to give meaningful contribution to our revenue situation” – they will continue to walk in sewerage.
Sylvester said the sewerage problem will escalate into an epidemic which will “take us out” as it is only through the mercies of God that the VI is doing well thus far given the current sewerage situation.
