ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - As the BVI Basketball Federation (BVIBF) Summer League got underway on Saturday and Sunday May 12/13, 2012, fans were treated to high scoring, free flowing basketball keeping them enthralled from first minute to last.

Action started with the Gold Rams recorded a 59-22 victory over Monei. Vincent Wattley junior top scored with 14 points and added 5 rebounds, 3 blocks and 5 steals. Akeem Nibbs scored 10 with 8 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists. Deondre smith scored 12 points for Monei.

Another Level then had a close encounter with the Hawks before running out 63 – 61 winners. Down 6 at the half, Another Level turned on the afterburners in the 3rd quarter to outscore their opponents 21-10 and take the lead for good. Seyka Petersen added 17 rebounds to his 19 points, 6 steals and 2 assists whilst Kevin Bodkin recorded 12 points and 7 rebounds and Jecoi Julius picked up 15 rebounds. Hawks were led by Nigel Carey's 17 points and 14 rebounds, with Ryan Alfred adding 11 points and Khadin Fahie picking up 18 rebounds.

Defending Champions Legs then put down an early marker with their 106-75 victory over East’s led by 23 points from Jovaughn Cameron, 20 from Kaled Gerard, and 18 from Kitwana Rymer. Rymer also picked up 12 rebounds. For the East’s Jahmal Rabsatt, Malik Hodge, Alward Forbes and David Lettsome all reached double figures in points.

On Sunday, the Blue Rams beat Real Tool 41-19 with Romain Minott scoring 15 points and adding 6 rebounds, 8 steals and 4 assists. Kiebrian Barzey notched 8 points and Thomas Richardson finished with 6. For Real Tool, Relando Rogers picked up 10 rebounds and 11 blocks.

Young Gunners then shot down the Young Starz 66-62 thanks to 21 points from Ashfield Frett and a double of 12 points and 13 rebounds from Shaunde Williams. Jamoi Dore led the Starz with his 13 points whilst Robert Riley and Jhmari Rivera both scored 12. Riley also picked up 8 rebounds and Jolyon Wilson 11.

The ESHS Rams then butted heads with the Skulls losing 95-61, despite Romain Minotts 18 point effort. Kevon “Shaq” the left handed Mumba Lettsome had an off night only picking up 0 points and 7 rebounds as the Skulls Jomoiri and Shamoii Dagou bossed the game. Jomoiri scored 24 points with Shamoii recording 16 points, 10 rebounds and 8 steals. Shakoy George and Shaheed Barzey both shot double digits.

In the weekend’s last game, the HLSCC Stringrays were trumped by the Kings 102-47. Jevonne Demming scored 26 points, Phillip Glasgow Junior 15, Rowan Victor 13, MacKenzie Baltimore Junior 12 and Mark Noel a double of 10 points and 11 rebounds in the crushing victory.

For HLSCC, Shaquille Fonseca scored 10 points, Tyree Maduro 9 and Reg Penn finished with 6 along with 10 rebounds. Fonseca also picked up 7 rebounds.

Games continue on Wednesday May16, 2012, with Junior Mystics facing And One at 6 p.m. followed by East against the Latinos.
