Tuesday J’Ouvert cancelled due to fights in Monday’s tramp
The Road Town J'Ouvert for Tuesday was cancelled due to fights in Monday's.
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Many were disappointed that there was not a second J’Ouvert in Road Town on Tuesday August 2.
The second J’Ouvert was cancelled due to fights in Monday’s J’Ouvert and VINO understands the decision to cancel it was taken by the Festival and Fairs Committee along with the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force.
VINO understands that there were several fights that erupted during the Rise and Shine Tramp on Monday and concerns were raised regarding retaliation and effective policing if there was to be a similar occurrence.
Meanwhile, one male was arrested and treated for his injuries while no charges have been laid. The circumstance surrounding the person’s injuries is so far unclear.
However, tomorrow’s J’Ouvert is on and is expected to attract a large turn out as usual.
