Police wins St Thomas 20/20
Brent Defreitas in full flow again- spearheading the Police Team in 2020 Cricket
ROADTOWN, Tortola, VI- An unbeaten opening stand of 109 between Dorian Auguiste and Vishal Bharat gave the police team a comprehensive ten wicket victory against Progressive in the final of the St Thomas Twenty Twenty league on Sunday September 3rd, 2011.
The match, played on the Cancryn Ground in St Thomas, saw the lawmen get off to a cracking start as the first over bowled by Dale Africa was smashed for 22.
Auguiste finished on 51 and Bharat 46 as the pair gave the police team victory inside 15 overs. Bharat hit 4 fours and six during his innings and Auguiste crashed 7 fours.
Earlier the Police bowlers had restrained the Progressive batters with only Terrence Webb breaking free with a hard hitting 43. Dale Africa scored 24, but no other home team batsman could muster double figures.
Jagnarine Persaud was the most successful bowler picking up 2 for 12 from his 4 overs. Bharat also picked up 2 including a double wicket maiden and Earl Prescott made the initial breakthrough with a caught and bowled dismissal of Sammy Jones.
Vijjay Jhappan finished with 4 overs for 10 runs, Prescott 1 for 5 , Brent Defreitas bowled 4 overs for 22, Auguiste bowled 4 overs for 33 and Bharat finished with 2 for 19.
This coming weekend the team returns to St Thomas to play in the final of the 40 over competition and will no doubt be very confidant of completing the double.
