Jevaughn Charles laid to rest [Photoslide Included]

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – His parents were inconsolable this morning Saturday January 21, 2012 at Jevaughn Emmanuel Charles’ funeral as hundreds turned out to bid him farewell during a service held at the New Testament Church of God, Baughers Bay.
Charles, 27, of Purcell Estate, succumbed in Puerto Rico on January 3, 2012 from an injury he reportedly suffered while attempting back flips on Brewers Bay beach on December 13, 2011. He was a technician at Horizon Yacht Charters, Nanny Cay.
Bishop Ishmael Charles was the officiating minister, with Hon. Mark Vanterpool, Minister for Communications and Works, reading the eulogy.
Jevaughn, who was his parents’ first child, was given the royal treatment but eventually had to share the spotlight with his brother Glenroy and his sister Tianna.
At an early age, he attended the Scott’s Educational Institute and Simmonds Pre School, and his early childhood education was at the Enid and Althea Scatliffe primary schools and the Elmore Stoutt High school (ESHS). From the eulogy, his former teachers described him to be a quiet and well-mannered young man.
From an early age, Jevaughn emulated a trait from his father, that is, to be a good mechanic, and after high school he took a variety of auto and marine courses at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC). His on the job training, while studying, was at Burke’s Garage. After graduation, Jevaughn was gainfully employed at Sun Sail Yacht Charters and then Horizon Yacht Charters.
Prior to the tragic mishap that later took his life, Jevaughn was involved in a vehicular accident that crushed one of his legs. As a result he was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami. Six months later he was back on his feet.
Apart from his passion for cars, this young Virgin Islander had loved to jog, play pools, and going to the gym.
Jevaughn will be sadly missed by his parents, brother and sister; grandmother Caroline Charles; great aunts Francis Carty and Leana Henry; great uncle Stanley Barnes; god children Ameri Pemberton and Jaeda Williams, numerous cousins and special friends.
He was buried at the Johnson’s Ghut Cemetery.
