GREAT HARBOUR, Jost Van Dyke, VI- “There is a new sheriff in town…Jost Van Dyke is about to see the dawning of a bright new day,” were some of the opening words of an energised 2nd District candidate Claude Skelton-Cline, who took his campaign to the sister island on Tuesday April 26, 2011.
Addressing a small but very responsive crowd at Great Harbour last evening, Mr. Cline made his case to be the people’s choice at the upcoming general elections noting that if elected he would ensure fair representation for Jost Van Dyke, economic growth, address the issues of education and youths, national issues such as immigration reform and cost of living in the Virgin Islands, and put in place efficient infrastructure with particular attention to the rehabilitation of roads and seawalls and the construction of a pump-out station there.

The respected preacher, who is now venturing into the often “unholy grounds” of politics, was very critical of government and stated that Jost Van Dyke bears the brunt of neglect.
“I have come here tonight to declare that the good people in Jost Van Dyke have shown some unique holy boldness. They are the only people in the BVI, who had stood up just a few months ago and declared that they need their own representative because they have been neglected and abandoned for so many years, they see the need to have their own.”
Mr. Cline described the residents on the island as industrious people who, because of their ingenuity too, were able to build businesses and help to provide for their families even without the help of Government services and representatives in the legislature.
“You have suffered what I call taxation without representation…They have not lowered their tax but have lowered their services…to some extent that there are some services that are non-existent here in Jost Van Dyke,” he told residents gathered at the meeting.
The declared candidate bemoaned the absence of several critical services such as an ATM or bank, an emergency rapid response and disaster management team, a garbage incinerator and a separate electricity provider.
Mr. Cline said he offered an open government that was not secretive but transparent and one that understood the needs of the people.
He also noted that some 125 persons have registered to vote on the island but he feels that the figure should increase more since they the residents have the power to determine the results of the upcoming general elections.

LOL!! A good old fashion jackass wanting something ‘good and old fashion’…And in other news………………….
Nothing is wrong if you’re not a fan of Cline, but come on!! What has Alvin done over there within this last term? They just broke ground for a Community Centre over there but the key word is BROKE!! They don’t have a damn cent to build it, just an election ploy! They’re building a multi-million dollar building next to a school which looks fresh out of a Haitian slum!! Ignorance is truly bliss but thankfully fools like yourself are just a LOUD and STUPID minority!! LOL!! ”
You’re basically saying “He sounds good, he sounds really good, he’s sounding TOO GOOD and we don’t want that, we need the man who has ignored us for years to stay there and continue ignoring us, we don’t want better!”.. hmmm….
I am disgusted with people who feel the need to insult and abuse others for having a different opinion. Foxy have a a right to support whomever he/she chooses. Alvin has obviously built relationships with the people over the years. Has your wheeler-dealer televangelist ever gone to JVD to spread the gospel?
We know who you are, got it from a reliable source. Anyway, you does post a lot of junk 99% of the time but I thought I would never say this…..I agree with your post!
Plus you make yourself look like a fool, you think Foxy know how to turn on a computer? By the writing you can tell is someone just using the man name!
You know who I am, YAAAY! Now what? Do I give a rat’s ass who know who I am? I would say what I have to say regardless!!!! Obviously the person is using Foxy’s name as their screen name and it’s not actually him, DUHHH!!! WTF???? I’m glad that you know who I am, now you can tell this obsessed idiot who posts on here over and over that I’m not from Guyana but a BVIslander if you would be so kind!!! Heh heh!!!
You can blog from Guyana, so why continue to contaminate pure blooded Virgin Islanders by being among them
