It was a bad outing for L & B Stable as both Glorious Memory and All Country failed to live up to the hype in St. Thomas.

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Although touted to win, Tortola horses Glorious Memory and All Country of the L&B Stable failed to live up to the hype as they both brought up the rear in their events of the race-card dubbed ‘The battle of the mares/fillies’ today Sunday January 29, 2012 at the Clinton E. Phipps Racing Park in St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands.

Battling for a purse of $9,500 in the feature race, which went for a mile, Glorious Memory trotted in last behind the winning mare Moments Away of St. Thomas, Destiny’s Arrival, Who Shot the Sheriff and Leggy Blonde all of St. Croix.

This was the second time Glorious Memory, Moments Away and Leggy Blonde matched up. Their first Match Up was May 2011 at the Clinton E. Phipps Racing Park. The order of finish for that race was Flankers Lady, Glorious Memory, Moments Away, Tiger’s Mischief, and Leggy Blonde.

Glorious Memory had already defeated Tiger’s Mischief going a distance of 7 Furlongs.

All Country (on the outside) was also touted to win in St. Thomas but trotted in last.

Speaking exclusively to Virgin Islands News Online promoter for the St. Thomas Race Track Mr. Bobby Hodge, of Millennium Racing Inc., had said, “the three horses; Glorious Memory, Leggy Blonde and Moment Away have been challenging each other for sometime now to see who is the best. Moments Away feels that she has beaten by these other mares when she was not in top form and now her performance last race day suggests that she is in top shape”.

Even though Glorious Memory was defeated the last time at the Clinton E. Phipps Racing Park by Moments Away, Michael “Myke” Hodge from L & B Stables felt she was not in top shape then but Glorious Memory is ready to redeem her title as the best Mare in the Virgin Islands, however that was not to be today.

Meanwhile, in the One Mile race for a purse of $4000, All Country could not find the strength nor speed to emerge victorious as the honours went to Sweet Sight of St. Thomas while Voice of Faith came off the pace to take second.

The races today were seen as a warm-up for the second leg of the Triple Crown slated for February 19 in St. Croix.

Meanwhile , the $150 per ticket offer for the boat ride to St. Croix ends on Tuesday January 31 after which the fee would be $160 per ticket.
