Tortola won the bid to host the conference last year during the Caribbean Toastmasters District 81 May Conference in St. Lucia.

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- All eyes will be on Tortola in May when Toastmasters of the Virgin Islands including Tortola, Virgin Gorda, St Thomas and St Croix collaborate to host the 8th Annual Spring District Conference.

According to a press release from the club, the Tortola delegation won the bid to host this prestigious conference last year in St. Lucia during the Caribbean Toastmasters District 81 May Conference.

“Over 100 persons have registered from 12 countries. Some from as far as Guyana, the United States of America and fellow Toastmasters representing most of the Caribbean nations”, the release stated.

The May conference slogan, “Your Voice: the Tool of Choice”, is aptly adaptable by international speakers from within the Caribbean Diaspora and the US. They will present on topics like: Laugh At Yourself – Using Humour in Speech Writing, Effective Evaluation: Sharpening and Shaping Better Speakers and Building a Team…the Cornerstone of Leadership.

Residents are welcome to register as delegates for the entire conference. An opportune educational experience combined with the camaraderie and fun networking with other aspiring Caribbean professionals.

All are invited to ticketed events including the Banquet, Saturday 21st at Treasure Isle Hotel. The Opening Ceremony and Speech Contest are both at HLSCC 2.30pm Friday 20th and 7pm, Saturday 21st, respectively.  The Virgin Islands has two dynamic speakers who will vie for the most coveted:  Table Topics and International Speech, TM Damion Grange and TM Bobbi Fawcett CC, ALB.  Both contestants will represent the local Tortola Toastmasters Club as well as the Virgin Islands, the release stated.
