14 of Tortola’s finest race horses are already in St. Thomas for this Sundays races

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – In keeping with its commitment to keep horse racing in the Inter-Virgin Islands alive, some 14 of the Virgin Islands’ (Tortola) finest race horses will be in St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands (USVI), at the pre-carnival races at the Clinton E. Phipps racetrack, today Sunday, March 27, 2011.

The new Virgin Islands (VI) Horse Owners’ Association, under the leadership of Derrick ‘Aruba’ Marshall, worked with horse men and women to help organize this event. A spokesman from the St. Thomas racetrack has confirmed to VINO in another exclusive interview that post time is at 2:00 p.m.

The feature race for this Sunday which is a warm up before the VI returns for the USVI Governor’s cup to Tortola in May 2011, has three of the VI best race horses competing.

East End Tap and Trevelyan from Tortola, who are both coming off a long layoff, will light-up the Clinton E. Phipps racetrack with much fire and excitement.  East End Tap last race was September, 2010 on St. Croix when he won the Bway Ah Bway Classic.

Lake Texoma will be missing from this Sunday races on St. Thomas

Trevelyan last race was October 30, 2010 in St.Thomas when he ran second to last.

Another big star in race seven which is this Sunday’s feature race is Good Prospecting.  This speed horse has won two of three races. He was the winner of the “Luver Bwoy Classic” during the Pre-Valentine Day Races at Tortola’s Ellis Thomas Downs.

The winner of this feature race with a prize purse of $5,000.00 will be the top contender for the USVI Governor’s Cup for their traditional carnival races in May of this year.

In two other separate races, Glorious Memory and Tiger’s Mischief will be making their debut in St. Thomas competing in the Mare and Fillies Classics.

Boats and plane loads of VI horseracing fans from the greater Virgin Islands are expected to pack the racetrack on St. Thomas as there are also horses on the race card from the big island of St. Croix.

Missing from this weekend’s St. Thomas line up is the rising star Lake Texoma of the L & B Stables of Tortola. Lake Texoma lost on his last outing last month at St. Croix’s Randall ‘Doc’ James racetrack.

After this Sunday’s race day, the next race card for Inter-Virgin Islands horseracing will be at Tortola’s super Ellis Thomas Downs on April 17, 2011 which is another warm up for St. Thomas Carnival Races.

Square One, Mick G, and Khun Dan three horses that will be competing in St. Thomas this Sunday.

I notice that too… When BVI horses get buss in, in races hardly any of the news ever lets you know..LOL Last time Trevelyan went there was big fanfare and publication going down after the a$$whiping hardly any news sources even reported he was in St. Thomas you had to hear by word of mouth what happened. Speaking of which I wonder if I should bet on you this time Trevelyan, you should be a real underdog ….paying underdog odds if you win.
