Youth as future leaders need to be more visible- Meryl E. Callwood
“Some called her little girl, some say it’s a campaign for the next elections started by Andrew [A. Fahie, Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party] but that young woman needs to be complimented for the candid positions she takes in speaking up to even the politicians,” said Meryl E. Callwood in an exclusive interview with Virgin Islands News Online.
According to Ms Callwood, “We on the young people to rise up and get ready to take the lead in this country but when they start showing that guts we ready to beat them down. I must compliment the positive bloggers who wrote in honesty for or against her position on the road project.”
‘Our elected officials drive on private roads’
In a story carried on this news site on January 5, 2017 with the headline “Sharie ‘Watchman’ de Castro challenges Hon Vanterpool on road works spending” Ms de Castro said “I am convinced now more than ever that our government officials drive on private roads that we, the ordinary people, do not see or have access to! Please be honest! Who can see or feel a $12.3M improvement of roads in the Virgin Islands?”
This Callwood said, “Puts her on the first page in my book of youths to stand behind. We need to see and hear from the group of youths they had in the youth parliament, the queens we spend our monies to support on stage that see them going overseas and experiencing the high life, the Junior Ministers of tourism. These youth need to be more visible if they are to become our leaders of tomorrow. The BVI too shady and needs to stop that nonsense.”
“I have a lot more I could say but for now the most important thing I need to get out is that not because she ran with the VIP in the last elections, Mark H. Vanterpool should show appreciations for youths like Sharie B.Y. de Castro. Come on BVI, time to move to the next level, get mature,” added the woman.
Meanwhile, Ms de Castro unsuccessfully ran for political office in the general elections of June 2015 as an At Large Candidate of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP).
