“You never know who is looking,” he told Virgin Islands News Online today July 8, 2014. Donovan was at the time speaking of the fact that a number of new, seasoned and prospective models have a chance at presenting themselves for possible selection in this year’s Annual Summer Sizzle BVI with the casting set for Monday July 14, 2014.
“Summer Sizzle BVI will hold a casting call for females and males interested in modeling for the Summer Sizzle BVI ‘Global Glamour’ Fashion Show which is planned for Saturday, July 26, at the U.P.’s Cineplex Crystal Ballroom on Tortola. The model casting will take place on Monday, July 14 from 5:30pm – 7:30pm at Paragon in Fish Bay upstairs DHL,” said a press release from the organizers.
Mr Donovan in his challenge to Virgin Islanders and others said, “As a model you definitely need exposure and you never know with the whole online presence with everything being easily accessible, model scouts, fashion designers and agents are always looking for the next new face.”
Their press release further outlines the requirements.
“The Summer Sizzle BVI Fashion Show is an ideal avenue for aspiring Caribbean models to gain exposure in front of some of the industry’s most prominent fashion insiders and international and regional media; and will feature collections from some of the world’s top fashion designers and emerging designers.
To be eligible, those auditioning must meet all of the following criteria. Females are required to be 5’8” or taller without heels; sized 2 to 6 (swimsuit ready). Males are required to be 5’11” to 6’2”; with waists 30 to 32. All selected models must be available on Friday, July 25 and Saturday, July 26, and any applicant under 18 must have their parents’ or guardians’ consent.
To audition, female models must bring three or four inch heels along with a swimsuit, and should wear minimal make-up with their hair pulled away from the face into a ponytail. Male models must also bring a swimsuit.
Casting during the initial screening will occur in three stages: Female models will be asked to demonstrate their best runway walk in heels. All models will be interviewed, videotaped and photographed for a headshot and full body shot.
