X-Factor winner Melanie Amaro to be featured in Police Week
Melanie will make a special appearance at the celebrated Police Week International Food and Drinks of the Islands and Karaoke Night on Wednesday, March 25 and will share her dreams and hopes for the future with the students of the public secondary schools in the Territory during the week.
Sponsoring her visit for the RVIPF is JML DeliverIT and its owner Roxie Romney who welcomed the idea of joining with the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force in encouraging young people to dream big.
“There is so much untapped potential in the young people of this Territory. Unfortunately, there are also factors in our environment which can dampen that potential and discourage positive expressions of these natural gifts. I endorse and will support any effort to encourage our young people to dream and think big. I believe that Melanie’s story on how she overcame the odds will help to do just that,” Ms. Romney noted.
In addition to these activities, one model student, selected by the principal from each the public primary schools, will be recognized during the week while senior officers of Force are slated to read to students at the various preschools and primary school. During the week, members of the community will also be recognized for their support of Neighbourhood Policing.
Celebrations for Police Week open this Sunday, March 22 with a Church Service at the Sanctuary of Hope, New Testament Church of God in Virgin Gorda under the slogan ‘Empowering our communities through Police Partnerships.’
Tickets for the International Food and Drinks/Karaoke Night are $10.
