FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI— A woman was shot multiple times in the wee hours of Sunday morning, Febuary 5, 2017 in Golden Rock, near the John F. Kennedy Housing Community in St Croix, US Virgin Islands (USVI) [US] Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has announced.

Mr Dratte said the 911 emergency call center received notification of the incident at about 4:15 AM. Upon their arrival to the scene, police discovered shell casings and broken glasses in the area. While on the scene, the officers were notified by the 911 emergency call center that a female victim who was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center by ambulance, had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

The officers then traveled to the hospital to receive a statement from the victim. She told police that she had left a nightclub and had not engaged in an altercation with anyone, and told police that she had no idea why she was shot.

The victim was treated for her injuries and remained for further observation by the hospital’s E.R. staff, Mr Dratte said.

Police say the investigation is ongoing by the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB). The force is also asking anyone with information about this incident to contact CIB at 340 778 2211 on St. Croix or 340 774 2211 on St. Thomas. You can also contact Crime Stoppers VI at 1 800 222 TIPS and 911.
