BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI – A woman was taken to Peebles Hospital this evening March 4, 2016 during an accident involving two vehicles in Baughers Bay on the main island of Tortola.

Details are sketchy at this moment but our news site understands that the two vehicles were travelling in the opposite direction when the accident occurred.

When this news site arrived on the scene ranks from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force and the Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue were on the scene conducting investigations, taking statements from occupants of vehicles and managing the flow of traffic.

The driver of one of the vehicles told this news site that he was on his way in the direction of Road Town when the other vehicle slammed into his vehicle.

It is understood that a female driver of the other vehicle was complaining about pain in her back and she was subsequently put in an ambulance and taken to Peebles Hospital.

Meanwhile, other ranks of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force were attending to another accident scene around the same time in the vicinty of the traffic lights at Wickham's Cay II.

There were no reports of injuries in what appeared to be a fender bender.

Two other accidents were reported this morning, one at Brandywine Bay in which one man had to be cut out of his car while the other occurred at Harrigan's Estate, both on the main island of Tortola.

Was there another accident between the road below Delta and Riteway as well? Traffic was pile up there from the light with ambulances flashing. Ain't had time to Rubberneck but I trust Vino going to be on that case as well if there was another hit up.

So you mean to tell me that there were no accidents during VIP's long rule over our nation? What kind of asinine comment is that, NDP was behind the wheel dem! REALLY! and oh I'm politically neutral, I show allegiance to no earthly party, so I defend none, but I do despise any senseless comments, political or not.

That poor lady. I'm sure it's that slim, dark lady who used to have all that long hair. I hope she makes a full and speedy recovery.

why you only see the police on the street after an accident; cant the police be positioned on the highways so persons will drive a bit slower because when drivers know the police are out they drive with more care: not because it is called the police-station means the police must stay there all day...come out and patrol the territory for goodness sake!!!!

When drivers know that the consequences are severe, they drive with more care. There is little or no consequence for irresponsibble driving in the BVI...no prison,no fines,no license suspension,no responsibility for a victims loss of eages/ medical bills, not erven a drug test or a sobrierity test..

reimbursement for lost wages/medical bills not even a drugtest...irresponsible drivers have nothing to lose but getting to their destination later due to their poor judgement on the road.

And the road blocked in the vicinity of the pub at 6.00am this morning. Looks like red jeep crashed into parked car and was just sitting there , an unmarked major hazard, in the middle of the road

    I repeat:
We have become a complex society spiral into chaos. Why all this choas? The birth of urban blight. People are moving to these islands at a rate that far exceeds the capacity of the islands to assimilate them. As a result a car-dependent lifestyle has been created with an ever-increasing demand for ROAD SAFETY AND TRAFFIC LAWS/REGULATIONS.
With that said, it is time for the elected leaders of these islands to plan and execute some traffic and road safety laws. Enough talk about spending money on economic expansion. How about road safety discussions and investing in speed cameras to detect the arrogance in driving that endanger our daily lives.
