ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – One woman is now in serious condition following an accident earlier today, April 22, 2014 in the vicinity of Joe’s Hill.

Reports reaching Virgin Islands News Online indicate that the woman’s vehicle ‘ran out of brakes’ sometime after 9AM this morning which resulted in her losing control of the automobile.

This news site has since learnt that the woman's name is Caroline Blackette.

Police later issued a report which stated as follows:

Traffic officers are investigating a lone-vehicle collision that left a woman driver with injuries and her vehicle several feet down the side of the Joe’s Hill Road this morning.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver lost control of her vehicle while descending Joe’s Hill. The vehicle ran into the hillside, then back down the hill and over the precipice on the opposite side.

Traffic and Fire Officers were called to scene to provide assistance around 9:40am and the driver was taken to Peebles Hospital for treatment.

Investigations are ongoing.

I was there going up the hill moments after it occurred and pulled over to assist. What gets me is the fact that they called for an ambulance and was told that there was no driver available at the time. SMH. Then when it was decided that a personal vehicle would be used to transport her, then the ambulance shows up.

    Hope she's doing well.
