Woman allegedly beats man with piece of wood
Zoen Blyden appeared before the Magistrate’s Court last Friday, March 14, 2014 charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. At the time she was ordered to report on her progress in the LOVE (Ladies of Victory and Empowerment) programme which is run by the Family Support Network (FSN).
According to the prosecution, On March 2, 2013 the Virtual Complainant (VC) was preparing the couple’s daughter to go to church and the defendant slammed the door and allegedly struck him on the shoulder.
When he asked what was the reason, she told him to go elsewhere. He eventually walked away but she followed and allegedly struck him on the head with a piece of wood.
After this, Blyden allegedly slapped the VC to the right side of his face but he managed to run over to the neighbour’s house where the couple’s daughter was left.
When he returned the two began arguing and a skirmish ensued and the VC ran over to the neighbours for help. The police were later called in and the defendant was arrested and charged.
Blyden told the court that she had not been attending the LOVE programme as she should have been because it conflicted with her work schedule.
She was told to find a way to get there by whatever means or have the court resort to other measures. She will return for a further update on the matter on April 25, 2014.
