With ‘Supa Cop’ even forklifts are ticketed in Road Town!

Glenn 'Supa Cop' Callwood is back on the road and even forklift operators are feeling his wrath. Well at least we don't think they are exchanging numbers! Photo: Facebook

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- All eyes remain on the streets of Road Town, the capital city of the Virgin Islands, as Glenn ‘Supa Cop’ Callwood is back on the traffic beat.

Mr Callwood is the most popular police officer in the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), known for his aggressive ticket writing.

After being accused and found guilty by a court for grabbing a co-worker’s testicles, he lost his job via interdiction in May of 2013.

It was this news site that first and accurately reported that Mr Callwood would resume his job on Monday November 7, 2016 with the blessings of Police Commissioner Michael ‘Mick’ Matthews and Governor John S. Duncan OBE.

From the first day back on the beat he has been writing tickets for violations of the traffic laws, including not wearing seatbelts, drivers on their cellular phones and expiration date of automobile registrations.

Bobby’s Forklifts ticketed on Friday

Even forklifts are not spared from the wrath of Mr Callwood. It was Friday December 2, 2016 when he issued a ticket to the driver of a forklift of Bobby’s Supermarket in Road Town.

While forklifts must be licensed to operate on the public roads, some believe Mr Callwood is now going too far, while others are saying he is just enforcing the traffic laws.

Traffic violators should be aware that this time he may not be jumping out of the bushes or hiding behind buildings waiting to surprise traffic violators but ‘Supa Cop’ is surely back on the traffic beat!

Is the traffic laws for Road Town only ?! Why he don't take his arse into Purcell Estate and ticket those who are parked on the corners and on the government road. People of Purcell Estate in the new year you're going see some changes when it comes to the enforcement of the Virgin Islands traffic Laws!!!

Why is it when people do their jobs all you all can do is spit negative words about them. Officer Callwood don't let them deter you from doing your job. It needs more officers like you then the Virgin Islands would be a better place to live. Right is Right and Wrong is Wrong people. If the persons ticketed feel it is injustice the Magistrate Court is there to hear them. Sickening to see what the Virgin Islands have come too.

The forklift is in the sidewalk where people have to use. So I guess, people have to walk in the street to get hit by a car.

Why the people In the BIG so flipping iggrant is beyond my wildest imagination. Ok sooo if this forklift is not liscence and insured for the road and operation (and I'm hoping that there are rules stating that they should be) we are saying that Officer Callwood upon realising that should turn a blind eye? Now. Aren't we the same flipping people who say stuff like:- THE CARS DEM PARK RIGHT DEY ALONG LIME BUILDING AND THE POLICE JEEP PASS EM STR8. Ain't we the ones who say -: CARS PARK IN THE CORNERS SCOOTERS ZOOM IN AND OUT OF TRAFFIC PASS THE POLICE VEHICLE OR THE POLICE SEE THEM AND DON'T DO ANYTHING. Ain't we the ones who say :- TRUCKS ON THE ROAD ILLEGALLY TRANSPORTING DEBRIS AND LOADS AND THE POLICE DIVING BEHIND AND DON'T DO ANYTHING? That's just a small mention of the things we say. If this "possibly" unliscenced/ùninsured forklift back out in the road and hit A BRAND NEW VEHICLE or old one for that matter what are we going to say then. U P this and U P that. He gah money and you want a 2020 model blah blah blah. We all know how that forklift is operated. The driver(s) has no care in the world the motoring public and or pedestrians In that area. So here comes the one Police Officer who realises and sees fit to do what's right to hopeful prevent some smack from happening which could happen to all you who whining and complaining and all we can do is find fault. WOW. WOW. I'm seriously appalled. How to please you people. Officer Callwood is only doing his job regardless to what light we may see it. He is the only visible Police Officer and because of that it seems as though he disgusting and whatever other names we conjure up for him. If the town and surrounding areas were painted with patrolling Officers you wouldn't feel the same way because it's all, but "ONE" officer trying to do the job of MANY we show ungratefulness. The others don't come out unless they in AC. He walking in and standing In the sun doing what he is passionate about and all we do is complain. Its the unseen Police and crossing guards dressed as Police is who you should be making noise to see on the road copying him. Why the BVI prefer to be and remain lawless is beyond me. Police do, we complain. Police don't do, we STILL complain. I think we should rallly around OFFICER Callwood and give him or sincerest support. Glenn I think you should stop and ticket Hon Vanterpool Hon Walwyn and any other members of Govt when you see them on their phones. They are the lawmakers and should be held accountable. BVI IS A MONKEY SEE MONKEY DO SOCIETY. FANTASTIC JOB OFFICER CALLWOOD.

@ at pleasr. U sound like u have sense use it .. Is not everything a cop can ticket For.. Because a Cop is still a human and good human being use good judgement.. Cop has a special power that call discretion.. In this case a warning was the appropriate decision...I don't think Supa Cop is a good Cop. He is a bad human being that is evident through the way he uses his authority.. Just imagine a leader like that.. Nothing but Chaos..

@ best: some of those officers are here for the money so addressing social issues not very high on their agenda(they focus is 15 & end of month)....those who on her talking piss let someone operating a vehicle without being insurance and insurance run down one of their children and you will hear a different story: most of us do the right thing and do who act the fool should pay the price(the person breaking the law and to officers Callwood this is your country do your job; some of the other officers just here to do monthly wire transfers supporting families back home)

If motorists and equipment operators want avoid traffic tickets, quit deliberatively violating the traffic laws. Wear seat belts, stop talking on phone while driving, stop texting while driving, ensure vehicles meet licensing rules, obey posted speed limits, drive according to weather and other road conditions..........etc. Traffic rules are put in place for public safety. Obey the rules for the safety of you and other motorists.

Enforcing the rules of the road should not rest on the shoulders of one officer. It should be the concerted effort of all officers. The lackadisical and look the other way of other officers makes Supa Cop the villain. He needs the support of other officers. Come on Mick! Give Supa Cop some well-deserved support. By the way, traffic rules should be enforced in other areas of the territory, not just Road Town. Further, parking in Road Town is a nightmare. There is a dearth of parking spaces in Town. What is the status of the parking garages? Were they just election campaign tark? Nuff tark, done tark and time for action.

He is just doing is job and doing it good I must say ! Yes sometimes he could give someone a little chance but if he do that , some ppl still wouldn't learn to stop breaking the laws of the road. They need to put those meters in the hot spot areas where people park their cars illegally. You want to park, you have to put money in the meters. Say, for each hour, $2.00. When that hour is up, you have to put more money in the meter if you want to continue parking in that spot. It can be done.

There is nothing super about Officer Callwood. Simply because if all the other officers were carrying out their duties with the same seriousness and persistence, then one officer doing his job wouldn’t stand out so much. Too long we have been plagued with motorist doing what they want. So the other officers need to step it up because one man can’t do it by himself. There are lot of motorist who park senselessly and obstruct traffic, e.g. by the Road Town Seven day Church (right by the no parking sign), outside Infinite Solutions and by Tops Photo Studio.
