ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – “Objective achieved, we pulled it off and it was excellent,” said one of the newest Virgin Islands (VI) promoters Ms. Meslyn M. Allan as she spent a few moments reflecting on the 1st ever Exquisite Boat show held on Scrub Island on May 25, 2014.

“We called this first event our fiery baptism into the events arena, and you know what? We LOVED IT!” she said all plastered with smiles of gratitude.

Ms Allan was not alone but was backed by a very supportive team among whom was Event Marine Manager Mr Anthony D. George also spoke with this news site.

“We loved the challenge of having to actively deal with obstacles as they came. We loved the awesome feeling we had watching it all come together on the day of the event,” Mr George said.

He noted that their challenges were not many as they were well supported by a number of companies, entities and individuals and with a few tweaks here and there they are quite sure of even greater success come 2015.

“We are most grateful for all the support and encouragement we received during the planning and execution of the event. Words cannot quite express our appreciation to those persons,” said Ms. Allan.

She said that Mr Sean Auguste, General Manager or LIME BVI and his team were by their side every step of the way, facilitating all their plans and ensuring the event’s success. “I think that the name Platinum Sponsors doesn’t quite describe LIME as it relates to the BVIEBS as their value to the event surely surpassed that of just a sponsor,” said Ms Allan.

Others who came in for high accolades were Shan Mohamed, General Manager for Nagico Insurance and Algernon Chalwell, Owner of Star Shipping and Kenneth Chalwell Marina who were called upon several times and un-hesitantly leaned their support and assistance where ever possible.

Benito Pinto, Owner of La Regata was said to have done a stellar job in helping to get the word out about the BVIEBS in Puerto Rico and internationally. “His efforts in our opinion went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the event was a success,” noted Ms Allan.

Anura Dewapura, Managing Director of Scrub Island Resort &Marina and his team also worked with them day and night to ensure everything was just right.

“Not forgetting our volunteers, security, friends and family who worked tirelessly on the day of the event making sure that everything went just right. BVI Ports Authority, BVI Tourist Board, [Premier] Dr. the Hon D. Orlando Smith, Shipping Registry, Hon. Marlon A. Penn, Tactical Media, Maz Media, SHRM Trustees, ZVCR, Zrod, Inter Island Boat Services, Golden Hind, Speedys, DJ Push Pop, Anasazi Dancers, our awesome models, JBY Fashion, Nadia Winter, Carolyn Blackett, Andrea Wilson and everyone that had a hand in the success of the event,” added Mr George.

congratulations on the effort. More people need to get involved in community activities and create events. However, I wish it wasn't glamourous hotshot boats and megayachts. It is rather superficial. But then again, look how many beauty pageants we have telling little girls that they have to be pretty and use feminine wiles to get their way. Promoting conspicuous consumption if this type at a place actively supporting these materialistic toys is not my idea of constructive beneficial investment in society. It promotes superficial material gain.
